3 Things
First: It's been a while, so music uploads. I am as eclectic as always.
1. If I Wrote You (Live) - Dar Williams. How much do I love Dar? Enough that this is the third consecutive set of mp3s that include a song by her. Melodic. Gorgeous voice, lyrics, instrumentals.
2. XO - Fallout Boy. Ish music. Indie(ish) rock. Upbeat(ish).
3. Radio/Video - System of a Down. I was suspicious of the new SoaD album, too. BYOB (the first single) didn't really grab me. The rest of the album, which I bummed off my brother, is very, very good. Experimental metal.
4. Somebody More Like You - Nickel Creek. A modern acoustic trio, with a guitar, a violin, and a mandolin pulled together into a rich, deep sound.
5. Hello - Poe. One of my favourite female vocalists. Haunting.
6. How to Explain - The Cat Empire. Fusion music. Swing/rock/jazz/dance. I adore them, and I recommend giving them a try -- if you don't like them, you don't like them, but I think they're a real treat.
I was going to stop there, but then I realized that Metric is coming through town on Monday, and I get to see them live again (so much love! Last time, they were through with Billy Talent.)
Bonus: 7. Wet Blanket - Metric. Low-fi indie. Great vocals. They grow on you like fungi. (Saying I'm wrong/To want more than a folk song)
Second: 20 Doctor Who icons.
The Doctor is in...
Third: Nabbed from
brooklinegirl, who had the bright idea to take out the silly questions and the part ordering people around. If you want to post this in your LJ, too, that's cool. If not, also cool.
Comment and:
1. I'll respond with something random about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me.
4. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
5. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.

*loves on Dar*
And my friend Jackie brought a Cat Empire CD back from Australia. They're pretty awesome.

Also, Dar!
I adore Cat Empire. Their music always makes me happy. And like dancing.

Dar is just...yeah. I listen to "Out There Live" like, a lot. A lot, a lot.

I think that If I Wrote You might be the only song I have off of that album, actually. *makes a note to check it out*

Also, comsider this a meme-ish comment.

Also, can I get back to you tomorrow morning on the meme? I have to write a resume and cover letter and CACEE form before bed tonight, and it's already 11:30. I'm kinda dumb that way.
no subject
And of course, no rush on the meme - it is a meme, after all. Good luck on the resume and stuff.

1. I'm still adjusting to the rename of your LJ. It takes me a couple of seconds to adjust and realize who you are.
2. Basement Apartment, Sarah Harmer
3. I have to stop loving them, because they all DIE. And are IGNORED. And no one writes me stories about them.
4. You took the time to email me back when I dropped a comment on ff.net to a Sean/Emma Christmas piece you wrote.
5. Where on the Kinsey scale do you fall?

2. The Thing About It - Sweatshop Union
3. Secret secret Santa!
4. You recced me on
5. Are you a city kid? Town kid? How did you end up at boarding school?
no subject
Er, both? Sort of? I was born in Boston, moved to Salt Lake City (which is not in fact an actual city) when I was five, then went back to boarding school in Boston when I was sixteen. I went to Andover because my dad went there, and he implanted the idea in my head, and also I wanted to get out of Utah. :)

There are a few more Dar and Cat Empire songs up in the last few music entries I've done: http://www.livejournal.com/users/cherryice/tag/music

2. Re-Dar! Oh Canada Girls - Dar Williams.
3. Um. I gave you the gift of amnesty, and now I'm asking for it back.
4. You replied to the first
5. Would you seriously move to Canada? If so, where?
no subject
and I *would* seriously consider moving to Canada, if I could. The entire thing would depend on the all-important job situation, but honestly? It's something I've seriously thought about. The thing is, right now, I think it's more the *idea* of it than anything else, and I'd have to do some serious travelling through the country to figure out where I'd like to end up.

1. You update about as frequently as I do, and it's really quite nice to know I'm not the only one who doesn't post every day.
2. Peaches - Presidents of the United States. Please don't question why.
3. I did try to get IRC running again, but I couldn't recall how to get onto the server, and then in the weeks of computer melt down I kind of deleted my IRC client.
4. I noticed in my userinfo that you'd friended my LJ, so I hit yours to check it out. You'd said nice, shiny things about me and made me blush.
5. Your default LJ icon -- is this a sketch of you, a sketch you've done, or something else entirely?
no subject
3. Wah, boo hoo.
5. Actually, an LJ friend of mine made icons from stuff she found on art.com, and that was one of them. It's here, if you want to see it. I like that icon because she kinda looks like me.
Now, you.
1. You're one of the most multi-fannish people I know.
2. I got nothing for this.
3. I remember asking you once in chat if it was okay for me to tell people your age, and you said it was fine. And I said, "good, because I usually rec you and then go, 'And omg, she's only TWENTY!' ::flail::". And you said, "Hee!"
4. I told you this in reply to your first comment to me, but here it is again. You posted fic then icons a couple weeks apart, and I saw the icons, went "ooh, pretty!" and thought, "hang on, didn't she just post fic?" So I dug up the link to "Like Some Strange Shadow" and was like, "OOOOOOH, PRETTY." I was impressed at the quality of both. *G*
5. Hee, I think I've asked you everything back in the days of chatting.
Thanks for doing this, it's fun!

2. Lola - The Kinks. Just because you f/ted it to me.
3. Chicken hawk!
4. Um. Not sure. You've been around for quite awhile. Did I send you fb?
5. Do you really think that the white Christian man is being opressed, or do you say these things to get me riled up?
