And now, for something completely different:

Recommend me some classical music.

I can't study without some sort of music on -- I just can't concentrate. I was thinking I'd put together a classical playlist specifically for the purpose.

I like (amongst others) Telemann, Grieg, Bach, and things in minor keys. I tend to prefer my Beethoven in very, very small doses and I'm not a huge fan of the harpsichord, but really, I'm open to pretty much anything.

I've been a huge fan of the Sleeping Beauty score lately - specifically the *cough* Disney, but also the ballet.

Hee! I'll check it out, hon. Thank you.

....er, the only suggestion I had was Grieg's Peer Gynt (which, btw, you know would be part of the score if Higher Ground was ever a movie, yes?)

*loves on Grieg*

I totally need the sheet music for Peer Gynt. I only have In the Hall of the Mountain King.

(which, btw, you know would be part of the score if Higher Ground was ever a movie, yes?)

Hrm. That seemed almost hint-like... *G*

Heh. Er. It might have been? (I was also just amused that the only classical I'd suggest you already listen to)

Hee! Well, between flute, piano, and oboe, I do a have a few years of classical training...

If you like Bach, you probably know the Cello Suites already. But if you don't, they're fabulous.

Or how about some Erik Satie piano pieces? They're spare and restrained and very lovely, and they make wonderful studying or writing music.

I adore the Cello Suites. They're on my list, I'm just having a very hard time finding a decent recording of them.

Also, Satie! Ooooh.

Thank you.

I know almost nothing of classical music. But I do have a fondness for 'Danse Macabre' by Camille Saint-Saƫns. Because, well, Death plays the violin!

Oh, I'd completely forgotten that one. Thank you!

hildegard von brien wrote some really amazing vocal-type church music (I'm not so sure on the technical term for it - housemate says it's called plain? Or something. Anyway, it's so pretty).

I shall check it out. Thank you, hon.

If you're listening while online, shoutcast has a stream called "Mostly Classical." It's fairly decent - I listen to it while working. Then again, I'd be hard pressed to identify any of the music by name, so I might not be the best person to make a recommendation. :)

I sometimes have a hard time making web radio work (on a Mac, running Firefox), but I shall check it out.

Also, yay! You're alive! No being eaten by penguins for you.
