In keeping with the tradition...

::G::

Before every performance, I have instrument trouble. Today, my flute was wonking out, so I thought that that would be it. Which was nice, because I figured out that it was just a trill key sticking down that made all the notes sound the same.

But then I had reed trouble. The AP knocked over my reed water when I had reeds in it. The cork got wet, and because we were off the next town, I had to put it away wet.

Let's just say that the cork is rather thoroughly ruined at the moment. Ripped, torn, swollen... All from just putting it in and taking it out at the next couple of towns. So I need to break in a new reed before our year end performance on Wednesday. Which would be easier if I had a day off somewhere between here and there.

But it's better than the other times. The duck reed, the one that split while we were warming up... The list goes on. So just having to break in a new one is a good thing. ::Nods::

In other news: Thinking of polishing up one of my old Harry Potter pieces, just so I've posted something

Yay! Track meet tomorrow! (My other tradition: Accumulating injuries before the big outdoor meet. I'm hoping my ankle feels better for tomorrow, but if not, I'll make due.)

Doesn't tradition suck sometimes?

OTOH, if nothing bad happened, you probably end up worrying yourself into a nervous breakdown. *G*

::G:: Yeah, if this hadn't happened today, I probably would have been... Wondering... at the concert. It would be worse if it went while we were playing. Especially since I wouldn't have had a chance to break in a new reed.

And now, I'll have to extra careful stretching tomorrow, which is something I sometimes neglect. So it could all end up being for the best.

Lotsa luck on the track meet tomorrow, kid. Sincerely.

Oh boy. Good luck tommorow on the track meet. I hope the ankle holds up alright.

And, yes, you SHOULD post the HP fics. Because they rock!

::G:: Thank you. I really appreciate the thought.

And I just need to find a HP beta reader, I think. I don't like to post un-beta'd stuff.

Hey, my name is Kellie. Your journal came up through random journal, and I just thought that I'd tell you something..

I play FIRST clarinet. We had a concert a couple of days ago, and my A key pad came off, so my clarinet came WAY out of tune. During my solo, I play an A for a half note, so I was really pissed, because it sounded so bad. It came off in the second song, and we play seven songs. It was absolutley horrible. I wanted to cry.

Are you in a traveling band?

Cool. Nice to meet you.

Awwww. I can completely understand the wanting to cry. Instruments breaking is completely awful, especially during a performance. I'm the only oboe player, and I have first flute on most pieces.

Are you in a traveling band?

Nope. We have a group band for our school division, and I play in the senior band. We were on an in-division tour for recruitment purposes. Much fun. Except for the breakage.
