Don't Panic
Oh, we're sinking like stones,
All that we fought for,
All those places we've gone,
All of us are done for.

We live in a beautiful world,
Yeah we do, yeah we do,
We live in a beautiful world,

Oh, we're sinking like stones,
All that we fought for,
All those places we've gone,
All of us are done for.

We live in a beautiful world,
Yeah we do, yeah we do,
We live in a beautiful world.

Oh, all that I know,
There's nothing here to run from,
And there, everybody here's got somebody to lean on.

This is just unbelievably gorgeous and chilling. I think these days that the only way to utilise Coldplay's unerringly po-faced earnestness is by serving it with a healthy side of irony, and you did it to amazing effect in this vid. Absolutely beautiful editing with amazing attention to detail - the source is so attractive and you utilised it absolutely perfectly. It's an interesting remix of the song, with wonderful new audio layers, and I love how you addressed the "stickiness" of the eerie synth overlays as well as the lovely crisp beats. My personal favourite bit is the prolonged running clip at 1:13, flowing effortlessly into Sylar's hand in the next clip. Thank you so much for sharing!

Oh, thank you. To be honest, at the start I kept trying to make this vid fit another, non-Coldplay song. It refused the manhandling, however, so I decided to try to make the best of it.

Heroes really does have gorgeous film, so it was a pleasure to work with.

My personal favourite bit is the prolonged running clip at 1:13, flowing effortlessly into Sylar's hand in the next clip.

To be honest, it's one of my favourite pieces of motion, as well.

Thank you for watching, and for your kinds words.

This made me weep. It rushes along with the music and yet gives enough in brief flashes to fall in love with the character, her resilience, her warmth. I’m still getting a catch in my throat in the last part before she walks into the fire and I’ve watched it a dozen times now. Thank you.

Thank you ever so much. I spent a deal of time wrestling with the ending, so I'm very glad it came together for you.

Yay!

Anything in particular you're looking for? I could whip something up for you, if you'd like.

Sweet!

Actually, yes. I need a "hee" icon. I say "hee" all the time, but I have no good icon for that (the one I use here is the closest I come to that). Does Claire ever laugh?

Hee! I am sure she does. I will find and cap her smiling -- it is now a goal.

But, um, finals suck, so it won't be right-right away.

Oh, of course! No rush.

This is fascinating - more gruesome than I usually think about Claire, but of course, it's all there, I just don't usually see it all at once. The levels of destruction are amazing put all together like this with the eerie musical choice.

One of the things that gets me most about Heroes is realizing they're working on a different time scale, so everything there is happening so much quicker than we're perceiving it. It certainly must be a shock to the system.

Thank you for watching.

That was really beautiful, it gave me chills. I love the way you edited this vid with short clips, placing slow and fast-paced clips together. And the scenes in the house were edited really well with Claire being shot and Ted losing control.

Thank you kindly. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

My god. That was absolutely incredible. I loved the cutting and the narration, the way you flicked between short and longer clips and moved back and forward, showing moments that are clearly from the same clip. That was just amazing.

Aww, hon, thank you. I'm glad you liked it.

I am here via Laura Shapiro and obsessive's recs. This is a great Claire study, very well planned out and executed. It hit all the right marks for me. Thanks!

This is such a beautiful video. It brought me to tears several times with the power of its storytelling. I think my favorite bit was the family literally holding itself together intercut with their world falling apart. So poignant. Really gorgeous, thank you for this.

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2007-04-11 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, thank you ever so much. I'm glad that the intercutting worked for you, and that you enjoyed it.

Oh wow, this gave me chills. Claire's relationship with her dad is such a fucked up, fascinating part of the show, and much as I wouldn't have expected it, the song works perfectly with your clips to illustrate that. Plus with the smooth, unstoppable momentum of the thing, which made me hold my breath, a little, because aaaa, noooo, Claire!

You and vidding are getting along swimmingly. I'm so glad you decided to try it out.

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2007-04-19 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, thank you, hon. To be honest, I kept trying to make this vid fit to another song because I am, despite appearances, a music snob, but it just wanted to be made to this one.

Claire needs cookies, and her other dad. *nods*

You and vidding are getting along swimmingly. I'm so glad you decided to try it out.

Hee, thank you! You still get blame. Just so you know. *G*

This is really lovely. Seeing how much she's been through laid out so beautifully really makes it hit home how overwhelming it's had to have been for her. And yet there she is. Beautiful vid. :}

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2007-04-19 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you for watching. The compression of the timeline means they've all been through a lot in a short time, but Claire -- Claire, particularly, has had a lot to deal with.

Very beautiful vid! Loved it!

Here via a rec on [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon:

I'm not a vidder myself, so I can't give you any technical feedback. But I just wanted to say that Claire is one of favourite characters on Heroes, and your vid captures both her natural sweetness and her determination to cope with her powers and stand up for herself very well. Great job!
