So it appears I accidentally disappeared off the face of the Earth again. Oops?

I'm taking Survey Camp at the moment, which means we're spending two weeks running around campus and measuring things. So far, we've had snow, wind, rain, heat, mosquitoes, and sunburn. Luckily the thunderstorms forecasted for today only amounted to showers, because our transits today involved standing on top of hills and waving a 2.5m metal pole around. Which, hello, not the safest thing ever in a thunderstorm. As a side note, my great grandfather was killed by lightening. He was riding his horse over a hill at a rather inopportune moment.

In other news, I got a bicycle! I am absolutely in love with it, as I haven't had a bike since I was 12 or so -- there was another incident, but this time someone rammed me from the side and I flew off the bike and rolled down the hill. It was all very traumatic.

It's a blue and silver commuter bike (yes, mountain bikes are nicer, but also more expensive), and I've had it for something like two weeks and I am still just incredibly excited.

Bikes are cool. Take it easy and enjoy the ride.

I'll say... O.o (And the poor horse probably just about had heart failure from shock...)

Bleah, Survey Camp in the rain doesn't sound so fun. But...at least it's not snowing today? I guess? :)

YAY bike! You should definitely check out the Meewasin Trail (if you, you know, ever have any free time). It's so pretty!

Well, when you consider that the horse was the most direct route to ground...

OMG, I think I preferred it when it was trying to snow on us? Because yes, it was cold, but it was a dry cold. I'm afraid my jacket and backback and shoes aren't going to dry out before tomorrow morning -- I actually had to POUR water out of my backpack when we got back in.

Rain + seeing your breath = not fun

I have heard good things! Just so I know, though -- paved or not paved?

That too.

(Had the "OMG What just happened?!" kind of shock in mind.)
