Thank you so much for offering to make something for me! You are clearly someone with discerning tastes!

My (recurring) general vid preferences are as follows: motion, character studies, humour, seriousness lurking below humour, humour spun out of seriousness, serious deconstructions, SCIENCE, magic, things that are just plain fun, things that are thinky, things that are things, awesome ladies, awesome characters in general, and awesome adventures. I love things that defy genre and I ALSO love things that embrace and celebrate their genre.

As for the specifics:

Continuum, Schitt's Creek, The Good Place, Muppet Treasure Island [SAFETY], Ponyo [SAFETY], Santa Clarita Diet, and Legend of Fei )

It's that time of the year again, and my dear, darling Festividder, I just want to start by saying that clearly you have good taste in media. A++, would match with again.

General notes, before I get into specifics. I haven't included any musical notes, because I'm a firm believer you can make pretty much anything work if you vid with intent, and I listen to most types of music anyway.

Things I love in general (repeated verbatim from the last couple of years): I love motion, character studies, humour, seriousness lurking below humour, humour spun out of seriousness, serious deconstructions, SCIENCE, magic, things that are just plain fun, things that are thinky, things that are things, awesome ladies, awesome characters in general, and awesome adventures. You also have pretty much carte blanch permission to go hay-wild on any and all BBC nature documentaries, if the urge strikes you. (As with all reasonable human beings, I <3 David Attenbourough.)

Dead Like Me [TV] )

Festivids!

My absolutely gorgeous Only Lovers Left Alive vid, You & I Sail, was made by [livejournal.com profile] vi0lace! Thank you again.

I made two Festivids!

Things That Scare Me || Take Shelter for [livejournal.com profile] bironic

Make the Girl Dance || Edge of Tomorrow for [livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl

[livejournal.com profile] kiki_miserychic and [livejournal.com profile] obsessive24 both guessed I made the Take Shelter one, which is cool because the first time someone's guessed a vid blind (I think). I'm amused, though, because I thought the Edge of Tomorrow one was the vid jumping up and down and screaming that I made it. Apparently I am less familiar with my visual ticks than I thought I was!

Edit: And apparently [livejournal.com profile] kuwdora guessed too! I was apparently very un-sneaky this year.

My dearest, most darling Festividder:

Let me start out by saying that you're awesome. I don't know who you are, but I know the previous statement to be true because you clearly love awesome things.

(I'm repeating the first bit of my letter verbatim from last year, as my general preference have not changed.)

There are no notes on music selection, because I'm good with pretty much anything. I listen to everything from country to hip hop to classical, with a lot of hipster tendencies thrown in. I'm not a huge fan of death metal, but I really think you can make absolutely any song work if you vid it with intent. General vid thoughts: I love motion, character studies, humour, seriousness lurking below humour, humour spun out of seriousness, serious deconstructions, SCIENCE, magic, things that are just plain fun, things that are thinky, things that are things, awesome ladies, awesome characters in general, and awesome adventures. You also have pretty much carte blanch permission to go hay-wild on any and all BBC nature documentaries, if the urge strikes you. (As with all reasonable human beings, I <3 David Attenbourough.)

Notes: Made for [livejournal.com profile] vagabondage for [livejournal.com profile] festivids 2013.

I just... I don't even know what to say about this vid. You could say that I got myself in too deep, and sometimes found myself up all night working on it.

Hi, my most darling Festividder! Hello! For reasons that don't need exploring at this juncture, this is the first time actually writing one of these letters! I am super excited to be participating, and I hope that this letter can give you some guidance. Unless you already have ideas, in which case --

Right off the bat, I can tell you that I'm going to love whatever you do, and love you for making a vid for me.

There are no notes on music selection, because I'm good with pretty much anything. I listen to everything from country to hip hop to classical, with a lot of indie thrown in. Festivids!

Despite managing to miss the signups for [livejournal.com profile] festivids (yet again), I made some festivids!

Zoolander and I Know It (Zoolander) for [livejournal.com profile] dualbunny

Another Code Against the Gone (Moon) for [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell

They were both fun to make in very, very different ways (I would have had to TRY to make vids that were more different). To be honest, I didn't really expect anyone to guess the Zoolander one -- though I thought there were a couple of editing tells -- but I thought the Moon was jumping up and down and waving its arms and screaming my name, what with the rapid intercutting and mostly-instrumental electronic-ish music. I guess I was more sneaky than I thought!
