Hi! Hello! Vidder, thank you so much for offering to make something for me!
My (recurring) general vid preferences are as follows: motion, character studies, humour, seriousness lurking below humour, humour spun out of seriousness, serious deconstructions, SCIENCE, magic, things that are just plain fun, things that are thinky, things that are things, awesome ladies, awesome characters in general, and awesome adventures. I love things that defy genre and I ALSO love things that embrace and celebrate their genre.
As for the specifics:
Annihilation [SAFETY]: What a trippy, gorgeous, lyrical movie. I'd love something about any or all of these fantastic ladies, or about The Shimmer itself.
Canadian Heritage Minutes [SAFETY]: I grew up with these, and I have so much affection for them. They're often silly or cheesy and can gloss over stuff, so I'm not going to claim they're perfect. I do think you could make something with them that was a lot of fun. You could work on a much more meta-textual level with the impact these had on the consciousness of many Canadians of a certain age, dig into the darker and more serious ones, or go over the top with absurdist humour. (Added note: I'm not asking for a ~~Canada is the bestest~~ vid.) If it tickles your fancy, I would be totally open to your bringing in some crossover with Hinterland Who's Who.
Continuum: I have a lot of feelings about Sonya Valentine, and about Sonya/Travis. Which is to say, I'd adore a Sonya Valentine vid. I'm also going to be happy with pretty much anything about this show focusing on its world-building, on the past and future colliding, on politics or terrorism, or on Kiera's dawning realizations about the world she comes from. I will also be extremely happy with a Sonya vid, or if she's incorporated into any of the above. Because Sonya. SONYA. (I fail to give any fucks about Brad.)
NEXTWAVE: I'd love something that captures some of the kinetic irreverence of this fun book. I'm especially fond of Monica, but something team-based would be just as great.
One Day at a Time: I love everyone in this bar. I adore how warm and good-hearted this show is. An ensemble vid would be lovely.
Power Play: Show of my heart. <3 Anything about this show will make me happy, but Colleen is my favourite. Colleen/Brett -- in all their fucked up glory -- is one of my first OPTs, which is odd because I don't actually know if I want them to be together in the end. Basically, this show. <3 <3 If you want to pick a character and do a character study, or do an ensemble or team vid, or vid about Canada and ghosts and hockey, it's all good!
The Girl From Tomorrow: I loved this show growing up. It's cheesy and hokey and everything you'd expect from when it was made and who it was made for (see: me as a small child, running around with a hairband flipped forward over my forehead to pretend it was a transducer that could harness my psychic powers). I'd love something fun and silly, but if you think you can make something serious and dramatic I would also love it.
Walking with Dinosaurs: I would very much like a vid about DINOSAURS. Because DINOSAURS.
