Today, to celebrate my birthday, I got into a bike accident and spent 13 hours at school.

Basically: When my bike seat was stolen last week, they damaged the mount, so the seat/pole I bought do not fit properly, and after a bit of riding slide all the way down, and the seat swings around beneath you as you pedal.

Something hit me in the ass, hard, and then the gears seized up completely. The thing that hit me was discovered (after I made close acquainaence with the ground, much to the displeasure of my shoulder and its muscles) to be one ricocheting metal end of a bungee cord. The bungee cord was discovered WOUND IN MY GEARS, with the remaining end hooked into and around the chain.

So, after about ten minutes of unwinding and detangling on the side of the road, I'm further banged up, and covered with oil, but the cord is free. The oil is also on my favourite shorts, bright blue board shorts. I was already running late, because the printer that I got to replace the printer that broke after three months (that I purchased as the printer before that stopped working), and I haven't had the printed notes for my class for a week or so.

I'm reasonably sure I looked like a mad woman, staggering into class late with a bike seat clutched to my chest with one arm, covered with oil and grass and just a bit of blood. And then I had school until work, and work until nine. Yay for thirteen hours on campus!

(Worst. Birthday. Ever. But, hey, at least it's memorable, and a good story. And I got cake. Very nice cake.)

Sorry you had such an awful day - and on your birthday!

Many happy returns! (I sincerely hope the next one is better!)

What is it with this rough patch of bad luck you are going through?? May it end soon!

Um. Yay cake?

*bandaids you*

That sounds wholly sucky, though yes--obviously an lj entry waiting to happen. *g* (Where'd you go to get the post repaired? I hear the Bike Doctor is good, and close to where you live, I think. My little sis swears by City Park Cycle, too, though that's further from your neighbourhood.)

Okay, as bad birthdays go, that totally trumps my Sunday birthday several years ago on which I worked until 1 (I had a church job at the time), met the rest of my jazz quartet at our tenor's house so we could kick him out of the group, and then rented what turned out to be the worst theoretically-made-for-women porn film ever.

But! Cake! Yay! And also, happy birthday!

There are some things cake, even truly orgasmic cake, can't make up for. And that birthday is one of them. Actually, it's about three of them.

So I think that you should decree that your birthday will be observed, a la various presidents, on a different day than you were actually born. Like, for example, next Saturday. Or whenever is good for you.

Don't forget to let the people who gave you the cake know that they'll need to provide another for [livejournal.com profile] cherryice's Birthday (observed).

I'm sorry you had such a shithouse birhtday, mate. However, here's your card and only a day late. The paper version of it is going in the post tomorrow when I should have some cash. ;)

...I think this proves I can't draw Mickey, but anyway. :)

Thank you kindly. I feel rather whiny the last few days, but in my own defense, they haven't been the best ever.

I promise fun and amusing content at some point soon!

Yay cake. It was good cake.

(I actually had to buy a new post AND seat, and I picked them up from Doug's. I think I have it fixed up now, with lock-tight and Allen-Keys, but the problem is that it's now too tight for me to be taking the seat off whenever I leave the bike.)

I have decreed that my birthday will be celebrated this year, as I haven't done so since I was 14, and that's a lot of years now. It will be a potluck picnic in the park, only I don't know WHEN yet, because I've already had to reschedule four times due to conflicts with other people's schedules. I have two finals next week, so probably some time after that.

(It's possible that my grandmother has offered to make me a cake for that date, should it ever actually come about.)

I feel a tad badly about whining, but it is my journal and it wasn't the best day ever.

Heeeee! Thank you ever so much! It's lovely.

Also, Mickey! Mickey!

(And it's possible that your package is, um, almost in the mail. And it's absolutely not the same package from your birthday last year. Because that would make me a BAD PERSON.)

*falls over laughing* I'm sorry, it's just kind of funny. Seriously, hon, whenever.

I'm glad you like it. He's actually quite hard to get looking even remotely like himself.

I really have to write that Romanathon story this weekend...

'S truth - but it's long since over, and it inspired me to throw myself my own frelling birthday parties for three years thereafter, which was a lot of fun (hobbit gifting! homemade food!) and which I will do again once I've got a job and a community.

And yes - it was memorable, as you say yours was. They make good stories, eh?
