Okay, people, seriously:

I just made ratatouille.

So maybe I haven't tried it yet, but it's cooling on my balcony to take for lunch tomorrow. And, okay, it looks like maybe I added the eggplant too soon and the zucchini too late, and then cooked it a bit too long, but.

Nothing is on fire, and I didn't even set off the smoke alarm.

Let me repeat that: nothing is on fire.

Well, I mean -- it'll cool faster there than on my stove, right? And the pot wouldn't fit into the fridge, and it was too warm to put into containers (also, it was late and I wanted to go to bed).

It tasted like the sweet taste of victory!


It was not bad. I now know some things I should have done differently, but I know for next time, now.
