I was just keeping this in my head, but as it keeps getting longer, I thought having it down somewhere would be best.

These are in various states of development in my brain and on my external HD. Unlike with ficcing, where I could have the raw materials for each story in a Word file, only one project at a time will fit on my lappy.

Witness my very abstract thought process.

To Vid, at Some Theoretical Future Point

- Meds, Placebo (BSG, Baltar): And the sex, and the drugs, and the complications/Baby did you forget to take your meds? The song itself really says it all.

- 40 Miles from the Sun, Bush (Dexter, Dexter): As darkness craves the mind/We come undone without our pride. A portrait of a serial killer.

- Joining You, Alanis Morissette (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind): You wanted to do away with yourself/I guess she thought I'd be a perfect resort. I adore this movie, and I think the contrast in this song would fit allow me to work with the colour and mood variances in the film. About finding yourself before you can find anyone else.

- Prologue, Loreena McKennitt (PotC: At World's End): It's a visually stunning film, full of all sorts of scenery and locales. The song is Celtic, and builds. I'd like to do something lush and atmospheric, about love and adventure, and love of adventure.

- Shut Your Mouth, Garbage (Heroes, Nathan+Petrellis): Give 'em what they want/What they want to see and you could be a big star/You could go far/Make a landmark. It just seems... very Nathan to me. Fast cuts, lots of light and sky. At one point, I started making a Nathan+Petrellis vid to 'Dumb', but got distracted by 'Don't Panic.'

- Stronger, Lamb (Hero): Hero is, perhaps, the most visually stunning movie I've ever seen. I really want to do something incredibly self-indulgent with it, make a vid that is solely a study of motion and colour.

- Miss Murder, AFI (Life on Mars, Sam): ... shut up. For some reason, all my indie cred goes out the window the second I open Final Cut Pro. I still think this would be fabulous for a vid solely about just how badly Sam is losing it.

- Citizens of Tomorrow, Tokyo Police Club (BSG, LKBV or Sharon): See the ruins of the old world below/That's what our ancestors left us./Our robot masters will know how to clean this mess up. I know that this needs to be be a BSG vid. It could be a heavily ironic Boomer vid, or it could be a LKBV. The song that formerly filled this place in my head was Stars of Track and Field's 'Yeah, I'm in Love With an Android.'

- There Are No Roads Here, Corb Lund Band (Firefly/Serenity): No written law to stay one's hand. River is the catalyst, not the change. That idea is the important part, the song may change.

Ideas that may find a song one day
- DW: Ten is kind of an asshole OR: The trail of destruction left behind, and the state and status of companions.
- DW: Mickey is all kinds of awesome.
- DW: Jack and Martha -- rocking so much they confuse geologists.
- Avatar: Four nations, one world.
- Spirited Away: Always moving forward.

In conclusion: My brain is a strange place, and if I ever give in and vid Due South, it will be to Liz Phair's Divorce Song (Harder to be friends than lovers).
