Mar. 8th, 2006 09:31 pmHi! No, I'm not dead. Not that there weren't a few close calls yesterday morning, with the 2cm of ice on the pavement and snow pack (there is no possible way it was safe to be outside, really) but still not dead.
Re: the Oscars -- I didn't watch them all the way through because I don't have the attention span, but. Everyone who thinks Brokeback was robbed, and are using it to do the 'Help, help, I'm being repressed! Come see the homophobia inherent in the system!' bit can bite me. If you've seen both it and Crash, and you honestly think BBM was the better movie, I respect that.
I will admit freely that my slight preference for Crash is a stylistic thing -- I tend to favour movies (and books, and television) with a wide network of characters to those with a smaller, more insular focus. Let me state that I don't think there's anything intrinsically stronger or weaker about either style -- as I said, it's a personal preference. The point remains, though, that racism is still an important issue, and Crash was a good movie.
If BBM had won, I wouldn't be running around saying it did so because the Oscar voters themselves are racist. I'm just saying.
With that said:
Ask me any question about any/all of the following:
1. Friends
2. Sex
3. Music
4. Drugs
5. Love
6. Livejournal
7. any topic you like
And I will answer. I might screen, if I think it's a little too private for a public entry, but I'll answer. Anonymous is enabled.
