[Random Things]
Nov. 8th, 2002 09:54 pmOur English teacher asked me if my Remembrance Day story/essay thing could be read at the assembly. (Which we had today, by the way) I, of course, checked to make sure that I wasn't going to be the one who had to read it.
Assured, I accepted.
Then, this morning, I was among a group called to the gym.
Principal: So, are you ready to read your story?
"Gah?"
"Are you ready to go?"
"Pardon me?"
" Your story."
::Pause:: "Yes." ::Longer pause:: "I need to go and get it from my English teacher, though."
Cherry: "May I have my story back?"
English Teacher: "Sure." ::Pulls it from thin air::
"...You lied to me, didn't you?"
"No. Yes. Maybe a bit."
"You knew I was going to have to read this. In front of the school and the community and the Legion."
"Quite possibly."
"Just as long as we're clear."
"Well, it was the only way to get you to agree..."
It went all right though, even if I didn't see it coming.
Actually, it went rather well, if I may say so myself. Especially considering I've never had to use a mike before, and it was too short for myself and BF, who got sucked into reading 'In Flander's Fields' this morning. Which resulted in him switching clothes with another guy at the last second, because what he was wearing wasn't exactly dressy.
I didn't stumble all over the place. It did go rather well. Which I already said, but, whatever. I spent most of the day getting nice comments, both about the story and about the way I presented it.
Our brand new popmachine is messed. It's only accepting nickles. Or, at least, it was for a while. And it turns out that the new machine they gave us last year was actually an old one that had been refurbished. Which would explain the evil-ness in that one, I guess...
I left a list of everything to get while I was at divisionals with someone in the HE class. Except for that PA fine foods didn't show. I finally got a hold of the correct people some time today, and it turns out everything was restructured, and we're losing the delivery guy we had. We've been through something like five in two years, and he was the only one who wasn't creepy and didn't stand too close.
I don't know what it is about truck drivers...
We're finished with our dissections in Bio. All four of them. l'm so proud of me. I watched all of them without feeling lightheaded or queasy. And, okay, I didn't do any *major* cutting on anything but the earthworm, but still... I was there! And I did all the recording, and I made it all the way through! (Yes, I do know that this is a sad thing to be proud of, but I still am. And my Bio teacher told me that he was proud of me, too. So there. ::G:: )
I finally got my transcripts fixed. I don't know what the hold up was, but my 94 is now actually a 94. Not an 84, like it said. Which still isn't that bad a mark, but I'd much rather have the correct grade.
I have a few days off here, and a long weekend. Which is really nice, because it turns out we're starting basketball next Thursday. It's also going to be at least two morning practice a week.
I need to find a way to break this to my parents...
