First off: I know it's cliche, but... All my best wishes to all of you for the new year. I hope you all have a wonderful next 365 days, and achieve what you set out to.

Second: New icon! I uploaded it a few days ago, but had nothing to say.

Third: 'With a Whimper' is finished and posted. It's the 'The end of the world and a diner' fic. If there's one thing I really like about it, it's that the ending works both ways - If people see the duality that kind of puts everything that came before in a different light, but also just as the end of the story if they don't.

Fourth: This post has come into being because the OAUC site is not cooperating with me. I think I've decided on my first choice of university and program, I'm pretty sure I have, and I have to use the OAUC site to apply, as it's in Ontario. And I also have to get over my Torontophobia. So... Nabbed originally from Victoria P...
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Well, I didn't exactly sit down and figure out how much I was going to write, this time last year, but my output was pretty low compared to last year. On the other hand, though, I think I've improved somewhat as an author, and the length of 'Karma Downs' and 'The Ties That Bind' have to count for something.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2002?
Hrm. Hrm. Hermione/Draco family fic, I guess. I've always kind of liked them better paired up. (Yes, I'm strange. I accepted this some time ago now. ::G:: )

What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest.
'The Karma Downs,' hands down. Which, as it happens, also seemed to be my most popular. I managed to get all of the story lines twined together, and I just like working with trippy little story lines, even if (especially if) they look almost normal at the start.

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
Oddly enough... Karma Downs, again - Yes, I'm mentioning this story a few times. I'm kind of proud of it. - This could so easily have fallen apart. There were a lot of places where it could have completely derailed, and I think I managed to avoid them.
'A Midnight Clear' was a major departure for me. My first attempt at humour fic, and rather different from what I usually write. I think it turned out all right in the end, though.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
FanFic: Hrm. I want to write 'Higher Ground' which is the next epic-type story bouncing around in my head. I need to finish my crossover series with 'Manifest Destiny.' I've been posting one story in the series a year, and this one has sat untouched for far too long. I do, however, have a heck of a time finding anyone to beta read X-Files/X-Men. The Boromir fic is mutating into something longer and more involved, and I kind of want to get up the nerve to actually write that.

ProFic: There are a few ideas circulating beneath the fanfic in my head, but I just never seem to have the time for them. Fanfic just takes less time, and the characters are already lain out for you to play with.
That said... I want to get to work on 'The Rough,' which would be a modern retelling of the Aladdin myth, using Aladdin as a street girl; Jasmin as the rich son of an oil tycoon; the sultan, his father, as the head of an empire; Jaffar as his corrupt right-hand man; and the genie as more of a disembodied force.
