Yes, random life things. It's been a while -- but it's just been life as usual. Basketball, band, taekwon-do, tutoring, track is starting, twitching over university and scholarships, school, SRC, friends fighting, fighting with my family, all that junk. You know the drill.
Today was my last day of classes, ever. (In high school, of course) Or, today was the last scheduled day, but we had Monday off and today our gym class took a field trip, so Friday was our last day, ever.
It's sad. ::Sniffle:: But I'm going to spare you the sob story, because it's still all mixed up and blurred in my head, and I'm still trying to figure it out.
Today, we went ten-pin bowling and scuba diving. I'm as bad at ten-pin as I am at five-pin, and that's saying something. I'd never been scuba diving before, but it pretty much kicked ass. I mean, we were just in a pool, but it is one of the absolute coolest things I have ever done.
I still smell like chlorine; it's -40 with wind, so our hair frozen into spikes; my mask leaked; and I just want to go back and hop in again. Of course, I've always loved being in the water, but there is just something wonderful and so surreal about fluttering around weightless. Of course, one of the instructors told me I was just like a fish thrown back into a pond, rolling and circling, and that always makes me have more fun doing something, but boy! Was that ever neat. I can only imagine what it would be like out on a lake, or a reef.
I had my interview for my work-experience placement on Monday. (Drumroll, please) I got it! He seemed impressed with my resume and ECs, and it looks like a really neat place to work. There are glass blocks and fish and cacti, and it's just a neat building. I'm at an aarchitectural firm, and I'm going to have my own work station with computer(s). I'm going to be doing computer-assisted drafting, designing various things right down to carpet colours, some modeling of buildings, and I'm going to get to go out on crews to construction sites.
::Sigh:: With the end of my second last term, I realize I need to get a grad dress.
As I'm sure I've mentioned, I hate dresses. I hate dressing up and I hate formal wear, and if you're going to force me into a skirt, I want it short. My sister is more excited about my grad dress than I am. This is sad. I tried on some stuff when we were in the city Monday, but nothing worked. If I get something from a store, I'm going to have to get my mom to trim it down, because with the way dresses are cut, by the time my bust fits you could almost fit two of me through the hips and waist. And you have no idea how much I wish that was some great, flipping, exaggeration. Oy.
I tried on something floofy. I tried on something floofy. And, no, there were no other heralds of doom, and there was no brimstone flew around the store. Or pigs, for that matter.
As some of you know, I've been having trouble with my glasses. Well, I *was* having trouble with my glasses. Then my one pair shattered into four pieces across my nose. The other ones, the left lens fell out when it got cold, and the right one fell out whenever I caught something with my face.
I'm considering contacts.
We were at the eye doctor's before my interview, so they were going to fix the glasses that were not four pieces.
They broke them.
So, I'm wearing a loaner pair -- different colour but the same style so that the lenses fit in. I get a new pair for free, but I have to give these back when they come in.
Tomorrow is supposed to be a day off, but I'm going to be at school, working in the shop. Thursday finals start. Band and basketball are on hold until they're over, but our first track meet is Friday/Saturday, which we learned about last Thursday. Taekwon-do is still on. Should be interesting.

Hrm. The capitals rule out Lindy, though the emoticons are ones she uses. The request for fic makes me think Jenny, because Kat's got her own stash.
::Wiggles her fingers and raises an eyebrow:: Close?

Date: 2003-01-22 11:21 am (UTC)And I am certainly going to have to do another entry. I'm not done for the year; I'm done for the term. All of my classes that I'm taking right now are over, but I have a new crop of 'em next term.
I really need to work on my coherance, apparently.
::Snugs:: Have fun at the beach!
