Three memes for the price of one!

1) The rules:
1. Leave a comment saying you want to be interviewed.
2. I'll reply and give you five questions to answer.
3. You'll update your LJ with the five questions answered.
4. You'll include this explanation.
5. You ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed. And it just keeps going, and going, and going.

Nute:

1) You're an athlete as well as a scholar. If you had a choice to pursue either an academic career or an athletic one, which would you choose?
Academic, I think. There are people in sports who do what I do better, much better. Not that there aren't academically, but the difference is much more spectacular athletically. I'm a nice, solid player, I like to think -- I'm willing to acknowledge that at the intercollegiate level, I probably only have the skills for basketball, and throws for track, and the later would require an increase in training to be a serious competitor.

I like to think I'd have a better chance at really making an difference academically, even if people have no idea that it was me.

Not to mention that at the tender age of 18, my injury list is all ready fairly impressive.

2) You broke onto the fanfic scene pretty strongly with "The Karma Downs". What do you think is your strongest ability as a writer?
It's easier for me to isolate my weakness, but I'd probably say imagery. Sometimes, I just get these pictures in my head, and I *have* to write them. Find a way to spill them onto paper. 'Karma Downs' came about because I had the title burned across my brain in glowing script, while below a pair of eyes, heavy with oil-slick colours, fractured and swirled.

3) Now that you're all growed-up and heading to university, what are you most looking forward to?
Getting some space from my family? Other than that -- meeting new people with new ideas. Sounds pat, I know, but I get a boost out of being around people, of exchanging ideas with those I don't know yet. Just talking to others gives me energy.

(And, yes, now realizing this is starting to sound almost vampiric...)

4) Same question I keep asking folks - if you were to have a complete appearance change, what one part of your body would you like to keep?
My eyes. It's what a lot of people say, but whatever. They change in different lights -- sometimes they're just blue, but sometimes the lines are white, and the greeny spot in my right eye can look bright yellow.

5) Corrollary to the first, what fanficcer do you think would be fun to give an image change to, and how?
This is hard, because I've never actually *met* a ficcer. Saskatchewan is bereft, and apparently my subconscious is anti-social, because the people I think I tell I'm going places I don't. Three times and counting.

Hrm. I'd like to give Bounce some more self-confidence. Char-mom some highlights. Update Nuoli's wardrobe.

Sorry. I know this one was weak...

Melwil:
1. What do you want to study at college/university and why?
Engineering. Why?

I've been wondering this myself. It seems I've kind of fallen into it, because I couldn't decide on anything else -- more hands-on than sciences, less who-you-know than arts.

This worries me.

2. What is the best present you've ever been given?
It's a toss-up. Either my laptop (which I am using right now) or a box of various and assorted small gifts and brightly coloured objects packed in styrofoam peanuts, from my friends.

3. What fandom would you like to understand if you had a magical understanding thing?
Buffy/Angel. What I can see of it from my peripheral view seems incredibly complex, fragmented, and prone to kerfluffles. I think that if I could wrap my mind around that, the rest would fall into place.

4. What is your favourite time of the year? Why?
Autumn. My favourite weather is cool and breezy, I don't have to worry about monster sunburns, it's not as muddy as in spring, I get to wear nifty jackets, and everything is pretty colours and fresh air. I've also been immersed in school for long enough that I always identify fall with the beginning of a new year.

5. If you could spend six months anywhere in the world, where would you go?
The European Union, because I could cover so much. Wales, England, France, Ireland, the Netherlands... I could see something, someplace new every day, and still often be able to understand the people around me. The history, the museums, the nightclubs, the architecture, the concerts... Yeah, I could do that.

Second meme! You can also drop a comment to ask a question of any of my fictives.

Third: That trustmetrics thing. 50 people I should have friendslisted, but don't. (Or 50 people who might have glanced through my LJ at some point, depending on who you steal it from.)

Interesting. I know/know of all but two or three people on here. Does that mean I'm cliqued up?

I'm curious. Does anyone on this list ever glance through? Or anyone else, for that matter? I'm told that the last layout I had was rather retina burning, so I somehow suspect not, but --

If you're reading this, and you don't have me friendslisted, I don't suppose you'd drop me a comment? Just for curiosity's sake. There are a more than a few people I'd like to friendslist, but don't want to send running for the hills, and with your permission... (Or, you know, just help a girl out and let her know you're hanging in there.)

So. Leave a comment if you'd like to have me ask you five questions, would like to ask a question of my fictives, and/or happen to be reading this.

Question meeeeeeeee! :)

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2003-08-10 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
1) In all reality, what will you be doing at this time in one year?

2) Is this your dream, something to pass the time, or just something you think will make you happy?

3) With Vegeta removed from the equation, who is your favourite character/fictive, any medium?

4) What genre is your favourite to write, and why?

5)Is this the one that comes to you the most easily? If not, which does?

[identity profile] darkmark.livejournal.com 2003-08-10 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, I'll bite. I did it for Nute, I can do it for you. Play it.

"You must remember this..."

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2003-08-10 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
1) Who is your all time favourite writer (comics, any company) and why?

2) Who is your favourite professional writer, and what is it about them that you love?

3) What character (fan fiction) do you find hardest to write, and why?

4) When writing original work, is there a character type you find hard to nail down -- you can write them on the outside, but you have no idea what is going on in their head?

5) If you would switch to any other occupation, regardless of your current training, what would you do? With current training and experience, and the choice of any job, what would you do?

[identity profile] indiana-j.livejournal.com 2003-08-10 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* Hit me.

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2003-08-11 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know why, but you're tricky for me. ::G::

1) Do you consider yourself a fan fiction writer, a fan fiction connoisseur , or just a ficcer?

2) If I were to be in your area for a Top Secret Reason, would you be interested coming with me to see if I could trick Yankee bartenders into thinking I was 21? Or would you just prefer advance notice so you could bunker down and cover yourself with shrub?

3) When do we get more Indiana fic? You can have as a pet an animal from any era. Safety, housing, or feeding it is not an issue. What do you choose?

4) Honestly: Would you rather be a paralegal or a lawyer?

5) What is the draw, for you, to wrestling?

[identity profile] indiana-j.livejournal.com 2003-08-12 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Where do you get the ideas for stories?
2. Why the major you want to persue?
3. Why Cherry Ice?
4. I know you said you were scared of Toronto but now that you've been...what do you think?
5. Considering your background, would you ever want to work on a farm?

[identity profile] nute.livejournal.com 2003-08-10 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Not bad. Ask away, then.

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2003-08-11 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
1) What drew you to the military, and what drove you away?

2) If you could be anywhere, doing anything right now, what would that be?

3) And would you make the change, if it was retroactive? If it meant that that's what you were always doing, and this never happened?

4) When you first encountered it, were you mildly suspicious of this 'fan fiction' thing? If so do you retain any qualms about it now?

5) You're lost in the desert (uncomfortably unclothed) with a quagga, a llama, and an ocelot. How did this come about?

[identity profile] dkphoenix.livejournal.com 2003-08-10 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Hit me. :-)

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2003-08-11 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
1) What do you count as your single largest fannish obsession?

2) How did you find Subreality, and why, exactly, didn't you run screaming?

3) You've been around for longer than I have. Do you get nostalgic for what I keep hearing referred to as 'the good old days?'

4) You can add another degree. Study anything for as long as you want, delve deeply into a single subject or obtain a broad prospective. What do you do?

5) Unless I'm mistaken, you have an elf hatred. What do you believe would be the most poetic/painful/appropriate death for one of the pointy-eared folk?
ext_3673: Manny, from black books (Default)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_bounce_/ 2003-08-10 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* I'm in for it, if you want to ask me the questions.

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2003-08-11 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
1) If you could be commissioned by one known figure (regardless of era) to paint their portrait, who would this be?

2) You fall off a boat, and drift to a deserted island. The supplies for one type of work have drifted up on shore. How would you occupy the time? (Oil on canvas, indian ink on paper...)

3) How many times am I going to have to insist you don't suck before you develop some self-esteem?

4) You become a star at one sport. No pain. What activity are you participating in?

5) Who is your favourite character, any medium? Is this the same as your favourite character to read fan fiction about, or to write?

[identity profile] elvenjen4.livejournal.com 2003-08-10 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
You used up all 10 icons already, LOL. You're insane.

You need to have the "Not listening" caption on a screencap of Gollum from TTT when he says that!! Heee that'd be so cute.

Oh yeah, and, I guess I'll play too. But ask nice questions. ;)

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2003-08-11 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
1) What is your dream career, and are you on your way?

2) I do enjoy LotR, but don't you think Bloom looks better in PotC? Less.. oh, girly?

3) What is the draw to RPS? I do not get it. At. All.

4) Do you believe in the -- ::twitch:: -- truluv of Will and Vaughn? And if so, do I have to administer a smack?

5) You have a fully stocked, private jet at your disposal for two weeks. What do you do?

Re: Well

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2003-08-11 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
1) Due to a run in with an angry mob, you are forced to relocate to either Nunavut or rural Arkansa. What aspect of big city life do you attempt cram into your suitcase as you flee?

2) Due to a freak hang gliding accident, you are stranded on a deserted tropical island. You had one case of alcohol with you (this may be why you had this freak accident, but I digress). What one kind of drink is it? You have lots of girly-type fruits around to mix it with.

3) What is the absolute worst job you can imagine, and what would it take for you to perform it? (No fair altering the pay scale -- you're being paid what would be expected for someone working that job.)

4) You've had another hang gliding accident. This time, however, you're in Anartica. Once again, alcohol was involved. Once again, you have a case. Do you: A) Use the alcohol in an attempt to light a fire from the remains of your hang glider; B) Addict a nearby group of penguins, and in your role as alcohol pimp-daddy force them to form a raft of their bodies and swim you to safety: or C) Say 'Screw it,' and guzzle every last drop.

5) Congratulations. You've written a stunning, brilliant piece that has achieved popular and critical aclaim. What is it? What format --screen play, novel, biography? What is it about, and who (or which groups of people) do you especially want it to reach or teach?

[identity profile] cgilmore.livejournal.com 2003-08-11 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok, I'll play at being sociable. Ask away.

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2003-08-11 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
1) How've you *been?*

2) What do you consider your primary fandom?

3) What sort of threat will it take before you start updating your LJ?

4) What is your dream job?

5) If it's not the one you're working at right now, why aren't you going after it?

[identity profile] sparrow015.livejournal.com 2003-08-12 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Hit me, I'm a target! :D

[identity profile] cherryice.livejournal.com 2003-08-12 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
1) What do you plan on doing after university?

2) Was this the plan five years ago? Two?

3) You can live in any era since the earth came about. Which do you choose, and why?

4) Remove one figure (currently in power) from the international political scene.

5) In your closet, there is a daschund, a bottle of brandied peaches, and a flamboyantly gay scarecrow. How did this come about?
