Three memes for the price of one!
Aug. 10th, 2003 01:46 am1) The rules:
1. Leave a comment saying you want to be interviewed.
2. I'll reply and give you five questions to answer.
3. You'll update your LJ with the five questions answered.
4. You'll include this explanation.
5. You ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed. And it just keeps going, and going, and going.
Nute:
1) You're an athlete as well as a scholar. If you had a choice to pursue either an academic career or an athletic one, which would you choose?
Academic, I think. There are people in sports who do what I do better, much better. Not that there aren't academically, but the difference is much more spectacular athletically. I'm a nice, solid player, I like to think -- I'm willing to acknowledge that at the intercollegiate level, I probably only have the skills for basketball, and throws for track, and the later would require an increase in training to be a serious competitor.
I like to think I'd have a better chance at really making an difference academically, even if people have no idea that it was me.
Not to mention that at the tender age of 18, my injury list is all ready fairly impressive.
2) You broke onto the fanfic scene pretty strongly with "The Karma Downs". What do you think is your strongest ability as a writer?
It's easier for me to isolate my weakness, but I'd probably say imagery. Sometimes, I just get these pictures in my head, and I *have* to write them. Find a way to spill them onto paper. 'Karma Downs' came about because I had the title burned across my brain in glowing script, while below a pair of eyes, heavy with oil-slick colours, fractured and swirled.
3) Now that you're all growed-up and heading to university, what are you most looking forward to?
Getting some space from my family? Other than that -- meeting new people with new ideas. Sounds pat, I know, but I get a boost out of being around people, of exchanging ideas with those I don't know yet. Just talking to others gives me energy.
(And, yes, now realizing this is starting to sound almost vampiric...)
4) Same question I keep asking folks - if you were to have a complete appearance change, what one part of your body would you like to keep?
My eyes. It's what a lot of people say, but whatever. They change in different lights -- sometimes they're just blue, but sometimes the lines are white, and the greeny spot in my right eye can look bright yellow.
5) Corrollary to the first, what fanficcer do you think would be fun to give an image change to, and how?
This is hard, because I've never actually *met* a ficcer. Saskatchewan is bereft, and apparently my subconscious is anti-social, because the people I think I tell I'm going places I don't. Three times and counting.
Hrm. I'd like to give Bounce some more self-confidence. Char-mom some highlights. Update Nuoli's wardrobe.
Sorry. I know this one was weak...
Melwil:
1. What do you want to study at college/university and why?
Engineering. Why?
I've been wondering this myself. It seems I've kind of fallen into it, because I couldn't decide on anything else -- more hands-on than sciences, less who-you-know than arts.
This worries me.
2. What is the best present you've ever been given?
It's a toss-up. Either my laptop (which I am using right now) or a box of various and assorted small gifts and brightly coloured objects packed in styrofoam peanuts, from my friends.
3. What fandom would you like to understand if you had a magical understanding thing?
Buffy/Angel. What I can see of it from my peripheral view seems incredibly complex, fragmented, and prone to kerfluffles. I think that if I could wrap my mind around that, the rest would fall into place.
4. What is your favourite time of the year? Why?
Autumn. My favourite weather is cool and breezy, I don't have to worry about monster sunburns, it's not as muddy as in spring, I get to wear nifty jackets, and everything is pretty colours and fresh air. I've also been immersed in school for long enough that I always identify fall with the beginning of a new year.
5. If you could spend six months anywhere in the world, where would you go?
The European Union, because I could cover so much. Wales, England, France, Ireland, the Netherlands... I could see something, someplace new every day, and still often be able to understand the people around me. The history, the museums, the nightclubs, the architecture, the concerts... Yeah, I could do that.
Second meme! You can also drop a comment to ask a question of any of my fictives.
Third: That trustmetrics thing. 50 people I should have friendslisted, but don't. (Or 50 people who might have glanced through my LJ at some point, depending on who you steal it from.)

Interesting. I know/know of all but two or three people on here. Does that mean I'm cliqued up?
I'm curious. Does anyone on this list ever glance through? Or anyone else, for that matter? I'm told that the last layout I had was rather retina burning, so I somehow suspect not, but --
If you're reading this, and you don't have me friendslisted, I don't suppose you'd drop me a comment? Just for curiosity's sake. There are a more than a few people I'd like to friendslist, but don't want to send running for the hills, and with your permission... (Or, you know, just help a girl out and let her know you're hanging in there.)
So. Leave a comment if you'd like to have me ask you five questions, would like to ask a question of my fictives, and/or happen to be reading this.

(no subject)
Date: 2003-08-11 12:16 am (UTC)2) If you could be anywhere, doing anything right now, what would that be?
3) And would you make the change, if it was retroactive? If it meant that that's what you were always doing, and this never happened?
4) When you first encountered it, were you mildly suspicious of this 'fan fiction' thing? If so do you retain any qualms about it now?
5) You're lost in the desert (uncomfortably unclothed) with a quagga, a llama, and an ocelot. How did this come about?
