I tried to talk to my parents today, about university, etc. I tried to point out some rotary scholarships, and entrance scholarships at places, and mention how even my principal said that I should probably write SATs, that I would be eligible for entrance scholarships at most universities, or automatic ones for averages. I wanted to show them the increases in tuition at the U of S, and the 15% extra planned for next year, and the chances of that happening again and again. I wanted to sit down with them with a copy of that McClean's with the university rankings, which I managed to get a hold of through a friend whose family has a subscription.

They wouldn't talk to me. They wouldn't even acknowledge that I was speaking. They looked at me once, then just... didn't.

Nothing makes you feel lower than when your parents won't even dignify you with a response. It just make you feel like... what you have to say is worth nothing.

Going to shut up now.
