New game! Let's spread the musical love. Tell me about a few good artists. Relatively unknown ones, if you don't mind -- we could talk about AFI, Foo Fighters, and Tori? But we all already know who they are and they're not artists people are likely to hop camps on.

Artist that you've probably never heard of...

Women with something to say:
Metric
Rilo Kiley
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Punk:
Distillers
At The Drive-In
Hawthorne Heights

Emo*/80s Revival:
Brand New
Rise Against
The Hives
The Strokes

Basic Rock:
Powder Finger
The Dandy Warhols
Spoon
The Honorary Title
Morrissey

Quirky:
Modest Mouse
Of Montreal
Elf Power

Song Smiths:
Beaulah
Jeff Buckley
Bright Eyes
John Butler Trio

What are you listening to?

* I hate this word. I really, really, do. There's so much crap labeled under it, but I don't have a different descriptive title to use.

I would suggest checking out Ellis Paul. He's a Boston musician and plays/sings folk. I have mp3s of his music on my FTP server.

Oooh. Liz Phair and Elliot Smith.

I loved Liz Phair before she sold out. Whitechocolatespaceegg is one of my all-time favourite albums.

Thanks for the recs!

As a side note, I'm going to be singing 'Deceptacon' for the next hour or so...
