Apr. 27th, 2005 05:05 pmI promise, by the second week of May, I'll have something interesting to say. My brain is slowly returning from its vegetative state.
Went shopping today, for work clothes. Success and good deals were both found. Dragged a friend for sushi who'd never tried it before, as I've been craving sushi for weeks now. Alas, there is no sushi to be found where I'm moving to this summer and as it's Saskatchewan, I don't trust the fish to be fresh enough to make my own.
I keep trying to write, and it's like all the bits and pieces in my head won't come together. I have lines and images, but the puzzle just refuses to come together. (Usually, by the time there are lines and images, the connecting photos I see in my head start fitting themselves together. Sometime, when I am more intelligent, I shall blather on about how in my head, a completed story is like a photo album that's been put together properly.)
I hope I didn't break myself.

Date: 2005-04-27 11:47 pm (UTC)Oo, did you go to that place on 2nd? That place is surprisingly decent for SK. lol So far so good. No fatal food poisoning! I like their chicken dynamite stuff. Is that what it's called? *squinches faces and desperately tries to remember* Whatever. lol

*shudder* The fruit is barely edible out here in the boonies! I wouldn't even begin to trust the fish.

Date: 2005-04-28 12:07 am (UTC)Have you been to Sushiro? It's just off Broadway, is the best place in the city for sushi. They're a bit more expensive, but they're the best sushi I've had outside of California or Toronto. The Ottowa, on -- 3rd, I think, it's by the downtown bus terminal -- has a pretty good lunch special but I'm told they're expensive for supper. They have very nice tea.
There's also a place on Taylor East, by the Centre mall. I've never been myself, but I'm told it's good. The Japanese restaurant in the Bes is supposed to be pretty good, and decently priced as long as all you eat is sushi. I haven't been there myself, either.

I've occasionally been able to get good fruit -- Safeway has a really good deal on pineapples right now, and fresh pineapple is one of my biggest weaknesses. Pineapple, nectarines, sushi, and long, hot showers.
I can hardly wait until fruit stand season, because I love summer fruits. Nectarines and good strawberries and cherries and...
Of course, I'm going to be in Speedy Creek for the summer again, so.

Date: 2005-04-28 01:21 am (UTC)Hey, it could be worse. Going to 'the city' could mean going to Regina.
... high school in S'toon, sushi was some food in some foreign fabled country.</>
No, this is recent. When I was in grade 12 (a whole two years ago) there wasn't really sushi in Saskatoon. I had it for the first time on our culture club trip out east, in TO. I count this as a major victory. As, you know, I in fact had something to do with its current rise in availability. All by myself.
If you don't mind my asking, which HS did you go to?
