Do you generally post a notice when you're going away for the weekend, or the week?

I've noticed quite a few of those, recently, and I'm just curious. I'm away for the weekend on a pretty regular basis, but I don't really think that anyone's hurting for my absence. Considering the frequency with which I post, it would likely end up constituting something like a fifth of my total entries.

Do you all think it rude of me to disappear without notice? Does it even register?

That said, I'm going away for the weekend. Be good.

I never post unless I'm expecting a lot of comments about something or promised something and won't deliver on time. So go, enjoy, don't worry. We'll be here when you get back!

Hee! And you are still all here. (There's this thing that happens when I go away -- people tend to defriend my LJ.)

If you live on LJ like I do, people tend to wonder if you're okay if you go without posting for a day or two.

But you're more laid back about posting, so people might not worry you're dead in a ditch if you don't warn us you're going away.

*nod* I do notice when people who post more frequently fail to -- but I tend to chalk it up to real life things.

I try not to post too terribly frequently, as not to annoy everyone.

Of course it registers. But I like to tell people I'm leaving because usually I have plans or meetings or fic in the works with others, and I find it nice to leave up a sign that says "I am gone. Back later."

Also, this may be due to the fact that I am REQUIRED to do so when I leave from work, so if people email me they know I am in training all week and unable to help them, for example. I like the habit. Even if no one else cares. =)

See, I live in Saskatchewan and it's devoid of ficcers, and I've never actually done a collaborative fic.

As for the work thing -- I work in a field a lot of the time, so we just leave notes on white boards or tackle each other at coffee.

I'm so cool. /sarcasm

Well, I tend to be fairly quiet (even though I read LJ every day), so I dunno if anyone ever actually notices when I'm gone for awhile...

Well, I don't read LJ every day, but I do feel the "I don't know that people notice I'm not here" vibe.

If you post several times a day and suddenly disappear, people would worry. If you don't post that often, people wouldn't worry if you don't post for several days without saying anything.

Heh. Good point. I do tend to not post for stretched of time, anyway.

*does the twirly dance of those who avoid posting too much in order to avoid annoying the living daylights out of people*

I don't bother. I'll (maybe) posst when I get back, to let people know I didn't get hit by a bus or anything, but that's about it, really. I don't think it's rude not to bother at all.
