A shocking fact has come to my attention through the miracle of crosslinking in my friendslist:

There are people who do not call pencil crayons 'pencil crayons.' They refer to them as 'colored pencils.'

To satisfy my curiousity:

I KNOW, RIGHT? THIS IS BLOWING EVERYONE'S MIND.

So weird that we're, you know, right the frick beside each other and so many OTHER things cross over, and yet this is apparently very decisive.

There are so many weird little things. Like the candies that are called the same name but are different products, or their lack of varied chip flavours, or the iced tea/lemonade divide, or the constant forgetting to put 'u's in words.

*shakes head*

And, apparently, I have too many Yanks on my flist, because 'colored pencils' is totally kicking 'pencil crayons.'

Well...

Today is the first day I've _ever_ heard the phrase pencil crayons.

That's just ... bizarre.

Pencil crayons? Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot, over?

And, see, before yesterday, I'd never heard them refered to as anything but.

Probably a geographic thing. :)

I think it's a Canadian/American thing. I'd never heard them called anything but pencil crayons until the afternoon, and it made me blink a bit.

When I don't call them colored pencils, I call them map colors. We used to call them that in school.

Well, I went with the "coloUred pencils" option, but then my brain kicked in. I'm going with "other - coloURING pencils". I'm totally confused by names, due to too many intercontinental relocations!

Oh, neat.

Just out of curiousity, what are the most interesting places you've lived?

If you had ever asked me what a pencil crayon was, I'd have given you the "monkey doing a math problem" face.

Strange.

And I agree with our sad american lack of chip (crisp?) flavors. I'm a fan of worcestershire flavored chips, and I cannot get them here. (Well, once in a while at an import shop, but...)

You know, we have many, many flavours of chips here, but I've rarely seen worchestershire ones.

My personal favourite at the moment are lime and black pepper. Mmmm.

Lime and black pepper chips are great but my favourites are sweet chilli and light'n'tangy. :) Or plain old salt and vinegar.

I"m not generally a big fan of salt and vinegar, but I don't mind sea salt and malt vinegar. Sweet chili and sour cream are good as well.

just pencils. Grey leads are the grey graphite ones and the ones with colour in are just pencils.
