Livejournal claims that skip=60 puts me back to Thursday on my friendslist.

There is obviously something wrong with this picture. Anyone here do anything interesting this weekend? *G*

So, the price of gas.

Wednesday was 93.9 cents/litre. Thursday jumped to 99.9, which is where I filled my car at. By the time I left for Saskatoon on Friday, it was up to 105.9.

It's really not the gas stations' fault, because they don't make a profit on fuel. My family own a gas station, I know this -- if it weren't for confection sales, we wouldn't be keeping our heads above water.

105.9. Most of the gas stations I drove by didn't even have the price up, because they didn't have enough slots for the numbers.

You know it's bad when things are operating on a "If you need to ask, you can't afford to pay" basis.

Yes, it's around 115 or 120 cents a litre here. And the first time it ever made it over a dollar there were some dodgy homemade signs at the petrol stations. Now it kind of fluctuates around $1 at best and, well, now at worst and a lot of places have specially made 11, 12 and 10 tags to go with their 0-9 tags to fit the new prices on the old boards.

*sigh* Yeah, our family's station has a 1 taped on.

Stupid peak oil.

Yeah. We had dodgy homemade signs when it was over $1/litre at first and they've adjusted and made extra little cards to go in the slots. The $1.20, $1.30 ones.

No wonder. I'm just glad I don't drive and have decent public trasnport in my area.

I take the bus during the school year, but there's no public transit in the "city" I'm living in now and I'm back and forth to Saskatoon about every other weekend.

Gaaah. I think I'm just going to be reinforcing the belief that living in small country towns or regional 'cities' sucks giant monkey balls.

Although, given that petrol's at 125.8 today, I don't even want to think about what it's at out in the country.

Hybrid cars only solve part of the problem. Plugging your car into your house at night to charge increases your power bill, and doesn't do much for the environment since most power is still generated from coal.

WE NEED BICYCLES!

Wow. What I wouldn't give for gas prices down to 105.9 again.

See, but that's per litre. Per gallon, it's something like 401.4

Ugh! I know, gas is so bloody expensive! In Winnipeg, we have this 'three cents off a litre' gimmick (which is awesome), but it's still over a buck!

I can't afford this. I wish there was a decent bus route from my house to campus, but alas, I have to drive. :(

Ugh. *hates*

I take the bus during the school year, but I'm shutting back and forth between Swift and S'toon fairly frequently right now.

But that's a gallon, isn't it? Convert it to litres, your tax is usually way less.

We're around 97 most places here, 94.5 if you really look. I think it'll kill me if it goes over a dollar. I LIVE IN ALBERTA, DAMN YOU.

Hon, if you were converting to Canadian, you would have taken it out of litres. *G*

81.6. You're at 81.6/litre. :p

Put it to you this way... I haven't pumped gas that wasn't below $1.19 since the Christmas BEFORE last. How's that for out and out depressing? You southerners make me sick with all your whining... JUST KIDDING! Costs of the north eh? Apparently that price is susidized. Scary thought.
I'll let you know when we hit the $2.00 mark. I'm waitin' for it...

And how's this for a rip-off? Gas is normally $1.30, but the Esso here charges an extra 2 cents PER LITRE to pump it for you!! And as if that wasn't irritating enough, our gas is purchased in bulk once a year. So theoretically our prices should only increase once a year right? WRONG... people have the audacity to increase their sale prices anyway even though it's not costing them anymore! Anticipation for the next hike in price? More likely gouging people who don't have much of a choice.

Yoi.

Oh, ouch.

The thing about gas dumps is that the oil companies adjust it backwards. When we get a dump of fuel, the next one is adjusted to what our selling price has been. I can't state that that's how it works up there, but it's what Shell does to us. Stations really do make only about a 2% profit.

I'm so looking forward to my lovely bus. Bet you they jacked the pass prices way up, though.
