Does anyone know what's happening with iMeem? I was attempting to watch an embedded vid, and instead of playing it when I pressed said 'play' button, it popped up with a screen that says "This video is not available for viewing in an embedded player. Please click here to view it at www.imeem.com."

I checked my videos, and they're all showing the same message. I double checked a vid I had no problem watching the other day, and it showed with the same message. When I went back to iMeem to see if the code had changed, it no longer offered me the option to embed the video. I haven't been able to find any news on the main site, so I was wondering if anyone has an inkling of what's going on.

I see a couple of possibilities: 1) this is a glitch; 2) I've missed something glaringly obvious; 3) iMeem has disabled embedded streaming, possibly to decrease loads and save money.

I'm hoping it's 1) or 2), but I was wondering if anyone else was having similar problems.

This happened to me for a little while, but yesterday I watched an embedded vid and it worked. I assumed it had been a glitch and it had been fixed, now I'm not so sure.

...and I just tried watching one now and it didn't work. I have no idea.

Well, that is not the best sign ever. Here's to hoping it's a glitch!

It is apparently a permanent change in their opperating proceedure. No embeds for us!

Yeah, unfortunately imeem seems to have completely disabled the embed feature. I had to completely reorganize part of my site because of it. It's really quite ridiculous.

Sorry, responding again. This is actually from imeem itself:

"This week, we’re making some changes to imeem’s video embed and video upload policies. Starting today, only videos from official artist profiles and the imeem jukebox can be embedded and played beyond imeem. This means you’re no longer able to take videos that you or other users have uploaded and embed them for playback on widgets outside imeem.com. We have also limited the length of video uploads to eight minutes each."

Oh, poo. I was hoping that it was a glitch. I suppose it's time to attempt to find an alternative -- though the pickings seem rather slim. Do you have a new favourite yourself?

I was hoping that it was a glitch too but alas...

My site had this great system of embedding imeem videos as my HQ streaming option because the embedded versions not only look much prettier but were also not subjected to the obnoxious spammy ads. Unfortunately, since they took away embedding abilities, I've had to just provide a direct link to each video ON imeem.

To compensate, I've added most of my work to Bam Vid Vault, which is a really nice community but the quality is somewhat questionable. The image itself is decent but something about the conversion messes with the frame rate. Everything is in synch but it has a slightly dizzying effect, at least for me. And it doesn't handle fast cuts very well so my action vids tend to not register the faster scenes.

Plenty of my videos are on youtube but of course that site is full of trolls and copyright nazis so who knows how long that will last. I don't bother with vimeo because the mods there check even pw-protected files and kill people's accounts on a regular basis unless it's entirely original material. And the quality of Daily Motion is not too impressive.

At this point, I figure people can deal with the streaming options and if they like what they see, they'll just download the HQ versions.
