There was a nice, long, (cut) post here about my design project, and how excited and dorky I am about it, but LJ just ate it. Bad LJ. No cookie.

(Using groundwater for the dispersion of hydrocarbon degraders for deep level bioremediation, if anyone is interested.) I know, I know, but I think it's cool and wicked interesting.

::digs up what little I know about bioremediation::

Dude, that does does sound cool!

Hey, it was interesting once you explained it with small enough words that I understood it. ;)

Bioremediation is the shit. I was thinking of doing deficit irrigation or something with hydro/aeroponics, but I've had a long-standing interest in bioremediation so it won.

I am like, mad excited.

*geeks out*

You guys do a senior design as well, don't you?

Hee!

(I'm sorry, hon. I get to geeking out and don't realize that I'm using technobanble. Endoplasmic reticulum!)

Seriously, though, endoplasmic reticulum is my very favourite thing to say in the world.

*laugh* I think I have a vague idea what that might be about, and if so it's cool, but I'm not going to say for fear of thoroughly embarassing myself in front of the entirety of LJ. *covers her ignorance*

*laughs* It's all good. What does endoplasmic reticulm mean, anyway? Aside from sounding silly.

Um, oops? I went all technobabble again, didn't I?

Basically, bioremediation is using plants and microorganisms to clean contaminated sites by breaking down the contaminants. I want to use the groundwater system to deliver some of the microbial hydrocarbon degraders.

(See, I bet you guess it!)

(Also, go you! You're getting pimped out all over the place by internet famous people. Woot!)

Endoplasmic reticulum is part of your cells. It's a network of folded membranes, and comes in two sorts: rough and smooth. The rough stuff is studded with ribosomes, which are involved in protien synthesis.

I thought that was basically what it was. *looks smart. as smart as she can look with high school bio, anyways*

(Dude, I know! People are friending me for my meta? SO weird.)

*high fives*

People are flisting me... um... because of my wit and sparkling personality. And because I usually manage to avoid my tangents on random engineering things.

... Okay, so I lied. Who needs friends anyway? *G*

Go you!
