Remix IV is live.

One of my Firefly stories was remixed: Still Flying, Still Breathing (the Pennyroyal Tea Remix), and it is absolutely everything I could have asked for. It's so very Mal, Mal and every one of his wars. The language is lovely and there is such a sense of place and time.

To whomever wrote it: Thank you.

In other news: I hear scuttlebutt ([livejournal.com profile] foenix) that SFX is going to be dropping one of the later episodes of Dr Who due to homoerotic overtones. This leaves me with one burning question -- Did they not watch the second half of the season before purchasing the rights? Possibly, the execs viewed the first few eps, and then went "I hear this Jack fellow they brought on turned out to be rather popular."

Being as the Jack episodes are the last five of the series and involve two two-part episodes, this could be potentially problematic. The part of me that is very mean thinks it would be rather amusing if they dropped "The Parting of the Ways" and segued straight into "The Christmas Invasion."

"What the -- Weren't they -- Where are the -- Why is David Tennant on my television screen?"

What? Really? Sigh. Time to step up the OMG Buy the DVDs, People campaign, I guess.

Seriously, though, how could they drop an episode? You can't just drop an episode! (Although the cutting of scenes they're doing so far doesn't give me much confidence in the Almighty SciFi.)

Won't someone think of the children?

I really don't see how it's going to work. I mean, they could drop Boom Town, without damaging the storyline? But I don't know that there's ANYTHING in that ep, and it's probably my very favourite one.

I'm up in Canada, and CBC (one of our broadcast channels) aired it at 7pm weekly. I really don't see how it could be be inappropriate for 10pm on cable.

I wasn't aware they'd been cutting scenes. What sort of things have they been dropping?

That's just pathetic. I mean, really. Dropping any of them means that the season won't make sense.

(And my copy of the last three eps won't play. I'm very sad...)

I'm so glad you enjoyed the story! *idiotic grin* I was so intimidated by your writing, I can't tell you.

Also, is that true about Doctor Who? Because, well, OMG. I do not have words for the sheer stupidity of that.

It would seem to create an insane amount of logistical issues. If it's true, I just don't see how they could swing it and still have a coherent narative. I'm told they've been editing eps aired in the states, though.

(Aww, they won't? If you tried www.isohunt.com they'd probably have torrents, now that you're on high-speed. The last three eps are amongst my favourites -- Boom Town especially.)

You really have no idea how much I loved the story. The original was like pulling teeth for me, and your remix was just lovely. It feels like a great deal of care was put into it, and it makes me grin very broadly.

Thank you.

I know! Did they not watch the series before they bought the rights? It's not like there have never been space lesbians on SFX. I just can't think of how they'd do it without destroying the narrative flow.

Ack. They did that with Farscape and Smallville here, because they were too violent and then, all of a sudden, the stories made no sense at all.
