They've got one locked up at work. They're calling it a level four biohazard, which we are so very much not equipt to deal with.

Catching it was a big risk -- luckily, we didn't lose anyone.

I'm conflicted. The facility was secure, because zombies generally don't carry swipe cards, and everything's pretty well reinforced. I'm just afraid that introducing it is going to have serious repercussions. I've seen that movie.

But.

We need to figure out how this thing, how these things, are working.

We know they're not breathing. We know they don't have hearts pumping blood. No oxygen, no circulation, so all the normal cellular respiration pathways have broken down. We can't figure out how ATP is being utilized for muscle movement. We can't even figure out if they are using ATP, or if the virus has created entirely new pathways. With no circulation, the byproducts should be building up, but we have no idea how long those will take to reach critical mass.

They should have already.

I think we're going to have to consider the possibility that science is not at the root of this.

Duuude. I've been offline all day, and so I had no idea the, um, zombies had landed, so I'm all "Holy crap, biohazard at the University! Run!" *g*

You do win BLITEOTW day, though, I think. This one is actually making me want the rest of the story.

Hee! *wins* No, um, reading my flist threw me a little at first, too. I most decidedly approve of zombie apocalypse day. *nod* This is in no way because I was just the other day pondering my routes of action, given zombies.
