Cherry's hobby: disappearing for long periods of time without anyone noticing or caring. *g* I'm working on that.
As an apology for my complete and total lack of content, have some music.
Awesomecakes! 1:17 of some of my current favourite songs. Short enough to be burned to a CD, random enough that most people should find something to appreciate.
The Beatles - Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da A perenial favourite, but it fills me with joy.
Beirut - Mount Wroclai (Idle Days) Folk with a strong eastern-European flavour. Full of movement.
Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand in Mine (Goodbye) Instrumental. I am head over heels for Explosions in the Sky right now. They're brillian. This just happens to be a short version of one of my favourite tracks.
Great Lake Swimmers - Your Rocky Spine Canadian indie folk. Understated and gorgeous, somewhat reminiscent of Sufjan Stevens.
Handsome Furs - What We Had Handsome Furs are a side project of members of Wolfparade. Rhythmic and sad.
The Hush Sound - Wine Red I actually quite like The Hush Sound. Piano-driven indie pop. This song makes me happy, despite the subject.
Johnny Cash - Solitary Man It's Johnny.
K'naan - In the Beginning My absolute favourite song of the moment. K'naan is a Somalia-born Canadian hip hop artist, and all of The Dusty Foot Philosopher is brilliant.
Kill the Lights - Skinny White Girls Because skinny white girls are not the be-all, end-all.
Liz Phair - Stratford-on-Guy Meandering, like a half-remembered dream.
Los Campesinos! - We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives Los Campesinos! are sublimely ridiculous. They make me happy.
M.I.A. - Boyz I have so much love for M.I.A. This particular track is rather dance-able.
Mother Mother - Touch Up Silly fun. The video is ridiculous and fantastic.
The Mountain Goats - In the Craters on the Moon Stripped-down indie rock. Mountain Goats are, as always, lo-fi and literary.
Neko Case - Hold On, Hold On Neko is, IMO, the best part of The New Pornographers. Her voice is fantastic.
Rise Against - The Good Left Undone Melodic punk. Apparently, this song has been released as a single?
Saul Williams - Sunday, Bloody Sunday I cannot recommend the new Saul Williams album, The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust enough. Williams is a real poet, and Trent Reznor produced this album. The result is an unexpected fusion of hip hop and Nine Inch Nails.
The Sea and Cake - Lightning Jazz-influenced indie rock. Slick and persistent.
Sufjan Stevens - For The Widows In Paradise, For The Fatherless In Ypsilanti This is my favourite Sufjan track of all time.
Tegan and Sara - Call it Off Tegan and Sara's The Con is an album of bite-sized morsels of folk rock, and this track feels incredibly personal.
TV on the Radio - Staring at the Sun TVotR are a fantastic fusion of genres, and I just love this song.
Voxtrot - Mothers, Sisters, Daughters, and Wives Upbeat, ironic, and danceable.
The Wooden Sky - When Lost at Sea Soft, aching, and gorgeous.
