After not completing any sort of creative project for far too long, I have almost too many things on the go. Three projects with first drafts (or almost-first drafts, vids in that stage where theoretically it's a first draft, but is still too full of not-win to be labeled as such) completed, one at 3/4, and one that I am frantically scrabbling for further ideas on.

This, my friends, is where you come in.

What are your favourite messed up/dysfunctional relationships in television or film?

So far, I have:
Dexter/Everyone (Dexter)
House/Everyone (House)
Every Petrelli ever (Heroes)
Any combination of Buffy/Angel/Spike/Faith (Buffy and, um, Angel, though my Angel-fu is incredibly weak)
Clark/Lex (though my Smallville-fu is nonexistent. Anyone have favourite bits?)
The Doctor/Most people (Doctor Who)
Rose/Mickey (Doctor Who)
Pretty much every relationship on Torchwood (TW)
Baltar/Six/Head Six (BSG)

I am looking for many examples. I am also more than open if you'd like to give me examples of places/times where things are effed up?

Please note that I am aware not all of these relationships are equal levels of seriously messed.

F/V is the first two seasons of Due South. Arguably S1 has the most visually interesting, obviously toxic relationship things. Also plenty of humor, if you're looking for that. S2 is more subtle.

Mulder and Scully's relationship is the worst in seasons 4 and 5, especially in the S4 run leading up to Scully's cancer arc.

HTH!

Ahah. Thank you. My dS familiarity is mostly with the RayK bits, and mostly through fannish osmosis.

I'm kind of already starting to think that this was a very. bad. idea. *lame emo tears of not getting things up to posting quality before losing her external drive*

Thar be some good Vecchio stuff, particularly S2, IMSHO. I love Vecchio. ♥

Of course it's not a bad idea! I'm just sorry about the data loss. That always sucks.

It's just that I feel very unproductive. I have two vids that have first drafts, but I can't seem to de-suck. Or had, rather. Two that were just about done. Gone! A couple have a partial back up, but. Three or four that were almost done from a while ago, that I ended up not finishing due to high levels of suck. I haven't posted a vid since last year's Vividcon, and my fic output is pretty much limited to Yuletide these days. My track records these days is sketchy in the extreme.

I'm betting that the right beta could help you de-suck those drafts. I can recommend some people, though of course you can't do better than [livejournal.com profile] elynross. And of course, you've gotta find them first. ::pets you::

You actually win a lot more than you think. RL has been stomping you with its stompy feet! Give yourself a break.

Elyn had a look at the Heroes one - it's rough enough that she had more vague suggestions. Of course, I also sent it to her during a week where I was feeling too stupid to live (I... don't remember the last time I actually failed a test, GRAWH). The other one is just a Jack vidlet, and though it works well on a visual/parallel level, it's about as deep as a kiddie pool.

I really kind of hate my life. /whiiiiine

You sound really depressed, honey. ::hugs::

FWIW, most of my vids for 2008 are going to be about 1 micron deep. Depth is not essential for a good vid!

I have just had a really, really crappy year, you know? The one before it wasn't exactly made of awesome either. (It should be noted that I exploded my emo all over you, but then corrected that. Sorry.)

My vid concepts lately tend to be somewhat cerebral. Considering where my head is at, this is probably not a good thing. Maybe the Club Vivid one will change to something like: Ways to end your relationships (or the world), to incorporate explosions into the messed up relationship bits. Explosions, yes.

(The Jack vid is kind of supposed to be a character study, but is instead a bunch of running and dancing. Kiddie pool, yo. Also, I highly doubt any of your vids a shallow.)

I know. And as far as I'm concerned, you're overdue for a change!

Cerebral vids are good! I'm glad you're having thinky vid thoughts. But sometimes I think it's good for a person to do something in a completely different tone. That's why I'm doing shallow vids this year -- on purpose, mind you! I needed a palate cleanser. (:
