I didn't know if I was going to get anything in, but it is 20 days before the deadline, and I have something uploaded! Hurrah for non-attending premieres! Hurrah for House-shaped inspiration.
The nice thing about not going is that there is considerably less fretting on my part about how it will be received. Fretting is still present, as it will be viewed by Real Vidders, but in amounts inversely proportional to my physical distance from the screen upon which it will be shown.
Now, for my own reference, and of no interest to others:
Avatar - Tamacun (Rodrigo Y Gabriela) - Appa. Status: beta.
Heroes - With the Lights Out (Tori Amos) - Meta-tastic on Heroes' women. Status: beta, needs a complete overhaul.
DW/TW - Fog (Wintersleep) - Jack, dancing. Status: made it to beta, and was abandoned due to overwhelming superficiality.
Buffy - Kids with Guns (Gorillaz) - Faith character study. Status: acquiring source.
Bones - unknown song - Family. Status: 1920s silent movie. Phoenix by Martina Topley-Bird?
Dexter - Run On (Johnny Cash) - Dexter character study. Head trip. Psychopaths and serial killers. Status: started and abandoned a year ago with a different song.
Heroes - Shut Your Mouth (Garbage) - Nathan and the Petrellis. Status: would be fun, but am thinking the other Heroes vid has put me off of the show, possibly for good.

Oh, dear. I'm kind of in that boat with SPN at this point, and Heroes is kind of on notice, I suspect. I'm not very invested in it, and kind of watched this last season half-heartedly, so we'll see.

The people who were trying to pimp into SPN have just kind of... stopped. Heroes is odd for me -- I wasn't that into most of S1, but there were a few (one) episodes that I thought were amazing. S2... didn't do it for me at all, and I think my issues with their issues (and writing) have overshadowed my appreciation for the crack and horrible, horrible science.

I don't think I've told you this before as I'm so behind on vid feedback but I absolutely LOVE your vids and your style and Dying and Only continue to mesmorized me to this day. I watch them a lot to see exactly how amazing you use motion and suck me into watching the vid. You're definitely one of my favorite vidders and as a new one, I am really impressed and inspired :)

Date: 2008-06-17 08:10 pm (UTC)The problem with the Jack thing is that it's about as deep as a kidie pool, but with pretentions to be more. I keep meaning to make a Jack-centric vid, but I feel my DW fannishness wavering somewhat.
I'm kind of blocked up at this point -- I have so many things I want to do, and so little time. I have things that are abandoned , and vague ideas I don't know if I can pull off. No way to find out but try, right? It's the choosing of which to attempt that can be the roadblock.
Thank you ever so much for your kind words. To be honest, I'm still somewhat frightened of viders, as they tend to be ridiculously talented, so that means a lot.

Date: 2008-06-17 08:13 pm (UTC)As for the Bones one -- I'm only a recent convert, but I have a warm, fuzzy place for the show. The problem I've been having is that while it's nicely shot, it's somewhat repetetive. Camera angles and lighting are somewhat same-ish, so it's something I'm going to have to work with differently.
I guess if shows shot exactly the way I wanted them to, they'd be 45 minute-long vids, wouldn't they?
