I've become so cranky in my advanced age.
Sep. 24th, 2008 11:11 pmThere are all sorts of political spectrum quizzes floating around the these days. The first one seemed to raise quite a few contentious -- some might say ridiculous -- questions, but promised to give me my spot on a two-dimensional spectrum based on social and economic permissiveness. This is rather more logical than the standard dichotomous conservative/liberal line graph.
There came a point through, where I was forced to conclude that it was not a political questionnaire, but rather a test to check and see if you are a sociopath:
#39) The life of one American is worth the lives of several foreigners.
Right, because clearly, the value of human life is contingent upon which side of an arbitrary geopolitical line it occurs on.
On that note (and before anyone get up in arms, there's a parallel 'Fight Liberals'/'Fight Conservatives' thing and it's all rather self-mocking):
Also known as: "I see stupid people," or "If you can't differentiate between theoretical communism and applied fascism, your fifth grade teacher and I need to have words," or "In all seriousness, is your only argument a literal interpretation of the bible? That's... well, for one thing, it's getting in the way of my separation of church and state."
In conclusion:
1) I am from Saskatchewan, and even our conservatives are socialists.
2) If someone can conceptualize a world view that allows or requires the arbitrary assignation of a differential value of life based on geopolitics, religion, or the number of pieces of green paper possessed, please talk me through it. I am confounded.

You are a Reality-Based Intellectualist, also known as the liberal elite. You are a proud member of what’s known as the reality-based community, where science, reason, and non-Jesus-based thought reign supreme.

Date: 2008-09-25 11:25 pm (UTC)(If I tell you that my friends Jimmy and Sally, neither of whom you have met, are getting married, and you tell me that you it's wrong, immoral, somehow magically weakens/ or devalues your marriage, or in any way affects you or your family, I am going to call you a fucktard.
If I tell you that Jimmy and Sammy are getting married and you claim any of the above -- I'm sorry, you're still a fucktard.
Luckily, it is overwhelmingly a non-issue in Canada, and even our military officials can perform ceremonies.)
