I love Diana Wynne Jones. (Re: Title)

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to bid goodbye to my sneaks, though. I've been wearing them since grade 6, and they're really starting to show it. They were the first really nice pair of crosstrainers I got. Size 7 Avias, white and navy, yellow and silver. They were only my gym/sports shoes for a year or so, but they've been my kicking around shoes ever since. They carried me through my very first track meet ever. I was allowed to join the team in grade 6, even though we don't usually start until grade 7, so it was a bit scary.

Now the laces are pretty much worn to nothing, and they won't stay tied up. The arch on them is perfectly fitted to my foot, but that's the only place with any cushioning at all. The heel in the back is worn down, and now the plastic, which sticks out through the fabric, is curled over so that it rubs away at the tendon at the back of my ankle.

I'll be sorry to see them go, just because they have carried me through so much.

Picked up a new pair of shoes at SportCheck today. Convert, grey and blue. Not quite hikers, but not quite crosstrainers. They're a bit unusual, which is really what I was going for. I don't like having the same shoes as everyone else. Which is what won them out over the other couple of pairs that I liked. They're going to be super comfy after I get them broken in, though I'm going to have to keep them laced pretty tightly.

Plus, they were on sale. Which is good, because my shoes take a bit of abuse. Just a little bit.
