Y'know... I think I really like being in the smart english class. (english? English? ::Head on desk:: Lookit! I deserve to be in the class ever so much....) It's much less work than actually being in english. The four of us are on our own most of the time, and we tend to finish early. Which results in much hall-roaming, because there's nothing to do in town.

Of course, then I wander into the computer lab, and I blather.

There is a noise that skin makes when it skids across the floor. A seasoned volleyball player can tell from the screech what the floor is surfaced in, how clean it is, and how much swearing they'll be hearing in a few seconds. An unlucky or uncoordinated volleyball player can tell the same thing from the amount of pain shooting up their leg.

There is a particular sensation that you get from grass stains from grass that is still frozen solid on bare knees. The numb part is almost worse, because it's the anticipation of the slicing feeling that really gets you. It's never as bad as it looks, because some of the discolouration is just from being outside in shorts when it's windy and freezing.

There's a surprised little noise that you make when you actually catch a football that you haven't realized was being thrown to you, and then manage to evade the other team for a good ten yards, even though they're pretty well all on you.

And there's a little dance that you do when you manage to do this, especially if you don't usually play football due to the fact that you can't catch, can't thrown, and fall over easily.

Unless there is some rather large twist of fate and our team makes provincials.... I just timed my last football game today.

I know it's stupid, but that makes me sad. It was a heart breaker of a game. We lost by two points when the other team scored a touch down with thirteen seconds left on the clock. It's something that I've been doing for four years, and I'm graduating, and I'm done with it. There was just something about wrapping the flag up and clearing the clock.

I've already been bugged by my family for mentioning this, but... I'm going to miss this. I like football games, even though some of the coaches are asses. I like being called ma'am by people larger and older than me, which I never would have expected. I like the refs I work with. I like splitting hot chocolate with stats keepers when your breath shoots in plumes and you can hardly hold the styrofoam cup because your fingers are numb with cold.

I like knowing how my friends on the team are actually doing when they are injured, because we're on the same side of the field, instead of worrying about them through the entire game. I like getting to travel with the team to away games, even though each team has their own time keeper. I like being thanked at the end of each game, and I like having the red flag, and I just like to be involved.
