Oh, this is lovely! Things I really like:

- the collage of images at the start, and all the contradictory motion in it
- how you cut back and forth between scenes (i.e. returning to the same scenes and intercutting scenes)
- and within scenes, especially how you rearranged the kiss at 0:52 <3 <3 <3
- the transition at 1:15 from the spraypaint to the ocean! *admires*
- the intercutting of the sex first with the painting, and then how that turned into intercutting the hugs with the sex; that made me all squooshy.

This is gorgeous! It wasn't until I started watching that I realised I have actually seen the film, and this vid just captured and brought back the whole feeling of the film so perfectly. I adored the use of the ocean imagery and how much the main character's (sorry, forget his name) art played into the tone of everything. I love that his love for everyone shines through, from Boyfriend Guy (again, soz for not remembering anyone's name) to the baby nephew and his sister and the girlfriend. There's just so much love permeating through this, it's wonderful. And as usual your use of light and music is gorgeous and unobtrusive and I adore the jump cutting. Awesome work.

Oh! Oh... Oh, my goodness, that was so beautiful! You absolutely captured everything that is so lovely and heartbreaking and heartwarming and TRUE about this film. I love how you establish Zach's universe in the first 40 seconds before setting up the romantic issues at the center of the vid (and the film), with Zach constantly on the move and the collage of flowing images of his world moving around and through him as he skates and drives and surfs and works so hard at life. And when I say "flowing" I want to say it, like, twenty times, because that's what this opening does: the music is like rippling water, the content of the clips includes clear water lapping at the camera and a certain translucent quality in the light in a lot of the shots that suggests water here, you use the bob and glide of Zach skateboarding *mdash; it's fantastic! This is his whole world and it's what he draws on for the subjects of his art, and the way you have him moving through this world, it feels like how he sees and experiences it. What a great start to a great vid! Thank you!!!

Thank you ever so much. This is the first time I've really focused on emotion when working on a vid, so I'm ever so glad that it worked. The opening collage section was incredibly organic and fun to put together, so I'm glad you liked that too, and that I was able to tie it in to the rest of the vid.

I just watched the movie this weekend, and when I mentioned it to renenet she said "Oh, there's a really good vid for that movie!" So I made her give me the link, and now I'm just pointing and nodding at everything she says in this comment, because -- yes, yes, exactly! I love the flow of images, the integration of Zach's family and his art, the sweetness of the whole thing. And the line "just the kind of promise you simply have to break," especially in conjunction with the clips of Zach and Tori, *really* moved me.

Also, I am so happy that there's already a terrific vid for this movie, because now I don't have to make one. :D

Ahaha -- I do kinda want to vid the movie, and a couple of days ago I was even in love with a potential vidsong, except it turns out the song actually doesn't work at all. Oops?
