Vidding! Ish!

Despite the fact that FCP hates me and at my Power Play vid for the Canadiana show, I am nearly finished it! I am entirely unable to be objective about it -- not because I love the vid itself, but because I have so very much love for the show. With CVV and Theme Show Premieres done, a young girl's heart turns to thoughts of Nearly New. Now, I have never submitted a vid to Nearly New before, but I do have two options!
What is everyone else sending? Do you usually submit to Nearly New? Do you have some sort of rubric, and does it allow you to decide before the very last minute?

Date: 2010-06-01 01:05 am (UTC)It is weird to me how flaily I get over Power Play. I mean, I often enjoy TV or movies, but I am never compelled to squee like this. I have been physically restraining myself from making flaily little posts of nothing but quotes and glee and <3 as I rewatch/vid. Because -- show! Oh, show.
I am so excited that we are flooding VVC with Power Play vids. I am so looking forward to seeing yours! There is just so much stuff I had to leave out of mine, because it packs so much into 26 episodes.

Date: 2010-06-02 07:52 am (UTC)I know what you mean! I suspect it may have something to do with the way our fannish glee has been all pent-up and isolated for, oh, *a decade*. *g* Vidding it has been more time-consuming than usual for me because every time I go looking for clips, I hit one of my (many, MANY) favourite scenes and am like, "Oh, I want to watch this!" And then...I'm watching the show, not vidding it. Heh.
I'm looking forward to seeing your vid, too! And then we can flail at each other, and be completely incomprehensible to everyone else at VVC. :)

I actually clipped while I rewatched, which basically resulted in my clipping pretty much every scene in every episode. In all seriousness, the 13 GB of 26 episodes turned into 50+ GB of 500+ clips, most of which were around a minute. As mine was for the O Canada vid show (am I correct in assuming yours is for premieres?), it's actually already done and uploaded (eeep!), and yeah, I was pretty much unable to be at all critical about it. I had to make myself just finish it because I used only a few of those 500+ clips, and I knew I couldn't put everyone and everything in there and make it understandable to people who had not seen it. Which means most of my time was spent going ".... but I wanna put more in! It can fit, right? I can do a 30 second post-music segment, right? Right?"
I have actually just realized that you are the originator of the PP quote page I have linked in my sidebar of links from many years ago! Is there any chance there is a non-PW requiring version floating around somewhere? It was a fantastic resource.

If... if you want, you could maybe see it now? Or after you finish yours. Or, we can flail fantastically when there are PP vids on large, large screens!
The Oh Canada vid had better not be scheduled across from my Motion panel.

On one hand, I'm boggling at 500+ clips, 'cause o.O. On the other hand, though...I can believe it! Talkyface aside (and I am currently just as annoyed with Colleen and Renata as I am with Brett on *that* score, rassm frassm *shakyfist*), there is a *lot* of viddable stuff in this show.
".... but I wanna put more in! It can fit, right? I can do a 30 second post-music segment, right? Right?"
Hee! A 30 second post-music segment is *crucial*, yes. ;) Also: oh god, I feel your pain. I only recently made the unhappy decision to cut Rose out of the vid entirely, because the song and the structure of the vid didn't give me enough room to include her in any way that would make sense. You are indeed correct that mine is for Premieres (*gulp*), so I'm trying to vid transparently enough that as many people as possible will be able to figure out what the hell's going on, but also do something other than just retell the story of the show.
...I plan to drink a lot before the Premieres show. *g*
As for the quote pages: actually, fanfic.com changed hands last year, so all my web pages are down. Now that you remind me that people other than me actually used those quote pages, though, I can post 'em all to DW so they can be up *somewhere*.
If... if you want, you could maybe see it now?
*pre-emptive flail* I would LOVE to see it early! But I do want to finish mine first. Which will, hopefully, happen this weekend or early into next week, so--if I PM you when I'm done mine, I could see it then? And if you wanted to see mine, that could happen, too?

Oh my goodness, yes. There are so many vids that could be made to this show! I am not always much on revidding (despite my deep and abiding love of Avatar: The Last Airbender, it took me three years to revisit it), but this shooooooow.
To put this in context: My Bones vid (from 5 seasons of 22 eps) had 736 clips at 30 GB. So it's partly the expansion upon deinterlace and partly that I want to cram every second of the show into a vid.

I... am somewhat worried this is what I did. I was so concerned about making it accessible and making the show look attractive that I may have just done an overview, with lots of hockey. *cries*
It says a lot about the show that there are so many fleshed-out, complex characters that despite a 26 episode run, it is impossible to include them all in in a way that does justice to them.
I am going back to wibbling about my vid now.
Now that you remind me that people other than me actually used those quote pages, though, I can post 'em all to DW so they can be up *somewhere*.
Yay! They may be a possible part of my yet-to-come pimping post. Which will occur after I figure out what's going on with my Premieres vid, and make it. *does not cry more*

Yes! I would love to see yours when you're done. I completely get not wanting to see another while you're working on your own, because -- yeah. One time, [Unknown site tag] and I released Merlin Morgana vids within like, 12 hours of each other. I am so very, very glad that I did not know she was working on one, because there would have been much, much wibbling and wringing of hands.
