I'm pondering...
Sep. 8th, 2002 03:20 pmEntering a few pieces in the X-Day competition. I don't know if I actually will, but I'm thinking of it. I mean, I could, but... In theory, all of my work is eligible, because I've never won anything. I could submit three stories to the 'short' category and three to the 'novel/novella' category.
I'm thinking of putting 'The Karma Downs' up for the novel. I've have to find some way of making a one or two page summary for 'Karma Downs' that would kind of capture it, not spoil anything, and still make people want to read/vote for it. Maybe a few in the short category, but I'd be kind of worried about splitting the few votes I'd be receiving. 'Points of Interest', 'Tea Time in Genosha', 'Burning White', and 'Dumb Feast' are probably the best shorts I have.
... I'm not sure, but I may have entered 'Dumb Feast' year. I should really check that... I mean, it would still be eligible, but really, would I have any better of a chance with it this year, especially as I think it may suffer a bit with time?
Edited to say: No, I don't expect you all to have any idea which story is what. That would be rather presumptious of me, wouldn't it?
So... Because I would honestly appreciate a few opinions...
Points of Interest=Emma Frost + A bomb; Cable&Domino
Dumb Feast=Storm + Wolverine; and a meal with a ghost
Tea Time in Genosha=Emma + Genosha + Sentinels
Burning White=Skin + Drugs (@Christmas time)
... Hee. Actually, what I'm kind of proud of about the last one is that I never actually said 'drugs.'

I like Dumb Feast for the simple emotion of it (and because I always liked that pairing, but hey). I love the premise of Tea Time in Genosha - the use of Xavier's quote. If I had to choose, though, I think I'd say enter Points of Interest. It's just... really interesting. I like having Cable and Dom in there; they're kinda underused. I loved the imagery in it, especially at the beginning, about Scott's eyes, he's "lost his head," etc. So that's my two cents, for what they're worth. Take with a grain of salt. :)
BTW, where is the X-Day site?

Hey, I'm not normally proud of my writing. So I kind of like the feeling.
Although, knowing me, I won't get around to actually entering anything unless someone gives me a good swift kick in the rear.
