cherryToday, I went to school.
Today, I went to university.
The University of Saskatchewan had their prospective student open house today. It was... better than I expected. If I have to go there, I think I can live with it, although more space between me and my family would be rather nice. It's a pretty campus, and the engineering department is rather... active. Although: There were signs. That I should go somewhere else, I mean. There were also signs in front of buildings, but they're not the ones I was talking about.
(And I'm starting to think that underground tunnels connecting all university buildings is an adaptation to prairie life, to avoid finding students who have mysteriously disappeared defrosting around campus come the spring thaw...)
Oh, but I really think I want to be an engineer now. I've always wanted to know how things work, how everything works, and there are some branches of engineering that you can do absolutely anything with. The cohesion and spirit found withing most engineering colleges is just amazing, and the presentation I saw made me want to go right out and hang a car from a bridge, or paint an agro student red.
Just... It's so weird to think that in a year, in one year, that is me. That's me with the books, looking lost. That's me, with the homework and the new friends and new ideas to talk about. In two, that's me with the yellow scarf helping to sheppard around a scared looking group of grade twelves, trying to make sure that they don't get hit by cars.
Here's to the future.
