As today I showed up for a lab section that doesn't start until Monday (in my own defence, I thought I was coming for one that had already started -- yes, I know that's not any better) I have time to kill.

Yesterday's surreal conversation wtih my grandmother:
::Staggers in, cold, wet, tired, and hungry::
Grandma: "Do you know a Dirk?"
"Dirk?"
"Do you have a Dirk in any of your classes?"
"Well, probably... But not one I've spoken to..."
"A Dirk called here for you. Said your name funny and asked for your postal code."
::Blink::
"Dirk Martin. Or something."
"No idea."
"He sounded very fishy."
"I really don't know what's going on."
"Good, because I told him off for you."
"Um. Okay. Thanks, I think?"

Things you should never say (loudly) in a public place:
1) "Damnit! My leather thong just broke!"
Referring, of course, to the ties on your *belt.*
2) "So this other girl and I were out back behind the school, screwing, and [teacher] sends out [guy and guy] to help because he doesn't think we're going fast enough. Of course, guys being guys (and sucking), they decided they wanted to get straight to the nailing part, because girls can't go hard enough."
SHOP class people, shop class.

And you know it might be a bad sign when:
1) A girl you've only known for a few days says to you "You know, I can't really see you staying in Engineering. You're just too good at English."
2) They ask you to write down your goals for the next few years, and yours include a) Finishing 'Higher Ground' and b) Getting something published.

Of the good:
1) For those of you following along, I did finish another chapter of 'Higher Ground.' I just need to find these docking stations I've been told about. Either that, or shell out $80 that I don't have for a wireless card. (Campus has WiFi)
I will eventually find the docking stations.
2) Have been elected as first year rep to the student council for my GE section.

Of the bad:
1) My parents have arbitrarily decided that I need to come home and work for subminimum wage as often as possible, and no less than one weekend a month.
2) Was not able to find any used engineering texts, and as such shelled out $too.much for my 68lbs of books. (Yes, I weighed them. And this is without any study guides or solutions manuals.)

I tend to manage to catch myself before I make slip-ups like that.

See, that would involve my having a filter between my mind and my mouth. And having a mind that was quick to understand gutter minds. (Which I also lack.)

I have a gutter mind. Which is how I'm able to catch on to those slips before I make them. ^_^
