Oct. 14th, 2003 07:12 pmI'm throwing down the gauntlet.
(And I've never done that before, so listen up, people.)
I suspect we've all heard about this. Now, if you disagree (and if you've still got me around, I rather suspect you do), don't you think it would be neat to celebrate by everyone writing slash and/or slashy drabbles?
If you can't stand slash because you think it's just done wrong, then show us how it should be done. If there's a strange, strange story bouncing around in your head that you can't justify writing, you now have a reason. If you have an OTP based on the meeting of minds, then I want to see it. If you just want to flip off the system, then go wild. If you want to write something but you won't be able to finish it by the end of the week, who cares if it hits the exact day? If all you have is one hundred and seven words and something to say, then *say it.*
Just say it.
Or at the very least, pass it on.
And yes, Andraste, you were partially inspirational.

Date: 2003-10-14 07:03 pm (UTC)::Grins:: But of course. It would be stellar.
(I happen to enjoy the word 'stellar.')
Hmm.

Date: 2003-10-15 01:27 pm (UTC)I mean, as long as the moral of the story isn't "gay people aren't really people and don't deserve equal rights and that's what's wrong with kids today and they're the reason everything is wrong with our society!" I don't see why not.

Date: 2003-10-16 06:15 am (UTC)I also agree with you on most of those points. I *don't read* graphic sex, het or slash; so to me it's not about the bodily fluids. I've always enjoyed uncon pairings, just because I like to see how people would work together.
You still have to make me believe it. You have to mesh the personalities and make a believable attraction.
If (non-personal) you can pull together a believable m/m or f/f relationship, then you have written that story well. If you have written a story well, that puts you up on the fic where Character A and Character B fall down a mine shaft, or get stuck in an elevator, and (with no previous attraction) swap spit because they're bored.
I'm as against pointless slash as the next person, and will mock it to no small extent. To me, if it was about the exchange of bodily fluids, it would be as pointless as any other smut. (Not that there's anything wrong with smut. Just as you choose not to read slash, I choose not to read any sort of graphic sex.)
And I was really going to more inspirational than confrontational during that entire post. I'm really, really sorry if I offended you.
