Some people did 'Five unpopular fandom opinions' (which usually weren't all that unpopular, merely secular).

I give you: Five unpopular musical opinions.

1) The Foo Fighters could kick Nirvana's ass up and down the hall.
2) Beethoven is over-rated.
3) Modern country music does have its merits. (See: 'Wild West Show' by Big and Rich)
4) Sometimes, being off-tune or flat is a *good* thing. It can add depth to lyric lines when handled properly. (See: 'Good to Know That if I Ever Need Attention, All I Have to Do is Die' by Brand New)
5) Your favourite artist/band hitting it big, is (more often than not) a bad thing. [See degradation of the originally solid: Our Lady Peace, Liz Phair, Nickleback, Eve6... (Some obviously started out stronger than others, and others have fallen farther into the gaping abyss that is pop music)]

*tacks Barenaked Ladies, Sarah McLachlan, and Great Big Sea onto that list*

This is why I'm glad most Americans don't know who the Hip or Sloan are.

I'm sad when I look at our list. So very, very, very sad.

Hey, do you know when their new album's going to be out? With the new song, I'm assuming they've got one coming...

I agree completely. ESPECIALLY with #5. Indie music just needs a stronger support system.

I miss old-school Liz. She used to be so good -- have you heard any of Whitechocolatespaceegg?

Here's a challenge: can you think of a favourite underground artist of yours who became commercially successful and maintained integrety?

I saw Our Lady Peace right after Clumsy came out. I miss pre-Chantel Raine. (Even if they are really cute together) I miss the old Nickelback! The State! I miss going to their shows when there's less than 500 in the audience, instead of 5000! Bring me back!

ie. I totally agree with number 5

Hard to believe that the same people who gave us 'The State' gave us 'The Long Road,' isn't it?

::Stocks up on old music::

Speaking of which -- do you have Bush's 'Sixteen Stone?' The debut Collective Soul album is another one of my favourites.
