Still not dead.
My computer, on the other hand... (Libraries are wonderful things, are they not?)
It was the memory card, apparently. The company has replaced it. With the bad memory card in, Diskwarrior stalled at 9 overlapped files. Without a card, 281 (and didn't progress after two and a half weeks of waiting). Now, with the new card, it seems stalled out at 395.
What is the point at which you say 'Fuck this,' and reformat your hard drive; or is there something else I'm missing?

If I do ship it to you, it's going to be a little while. I'm kind of picking and choosing between feeding Mr. Bubbles (my guinea pig) and feeding myself at the moment...
At this point, should I just give up on DiskWarrior? I'm thinking so...

"I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."
Speaking professionally, the point to say "Fuck this" is when it takes longer to try to fix it than it does to reinstall it. Of course, we back up our user data on a regular basis, so it's pretty easy for us to say "Fuck this."
2.5 weeks? Well, I'm kinda hoping to hear that you either have something that you desperately don't want to lose on it or that you had no time to work on it in that time and just left it running for giggles.
Now granted, Macs aren't my forte (
Keep in mind that it's fairly likely that some portion of your data is unrecoverable, given just how messed up your drive is. As
If you're not that attached to what you've got on there, or if you don't want to/can't go without a computer for much longer, format away.
Either way, good luck, and my condolences. Losing data in a drive crash sucks.

Date: 2004-07-22 03:39 pm (UTC)As for the time frame... It went 2.5 weeks without a memory card. I recieved the new memory card last Friday, shut it down and popped that in. When I talked with the people at DiskWarrior they claimed that their program was the only way to fix it -- short of a $1000 HD repair company.
I've got most of my writing uploaded to
Reformatting itself... I don't have my system CD. I gave it to my dad, as he insisted, for safekeeping. Now he claims I never handed it over. I know that *I* don't have it, and I specifically remember handing it to him.
