Love Sun, Sayid, Charlie, Saywer. Like Shannon just to be contrary, and I think there's more to her than we've seen. Jack is Captain Cardboard, and I keep hoping he'll die. Die, die, die, like he was supposed to in the first ep.
lol Charlie's alright. I think his problem is they make him to be the "saviour" and he so should not be. Sawyer .. can't decide if I like him. Sometimes I do and other times I hope whatever's in the forest gets him. *grumbles*
Btw ... did they forget about that or something? I mean ... it's like they totally dropped that storyline altogether. Or is it just me?
Now, while I do find Lost rather amusing, I don't call it great tv. There are frequent non-sensical plot leaps and continuity issues, and I find some of the dialogue rather wooden. The characters have the *potential* to be interesting, but most aren't quite there yet, or are skirting stereotypes.
Charlie -- I really want to love him. I really do. I like him, but you're right about the 'hero' thing. What I'd love to see is a longer transition for him to be a *leader.* Abrams has never seemed to see the difference. Jack, I find incredibly wooden. I've rather grown to like Locke, and I can tolerate Kate at this point. I can see it not being long before I start to hate her, unless something changes. She's just this side of a Mary Sue.
The thing in the jungle? Apparently, it wasn't intented to come into play until later on, but they thought they might alienate the audience if they suddenly threw it at them.
I, for one, am glad they've given it a rest. This is a show with a built in expiry date -- how long before it gets ridiculous? If they want to make it last in the long run, what they've got to do is focus on building more three-dimensional characters, and fleshing out the rest of the cast. I already see people being sacrificed on the alter of Jack's leadership.
This is not a show that can survive on 'the thing in the jungle.' This is not a show that can survive solely on flashbacks. If it wants to be viable in the long run, it's going to have to wean itself of these things. They're great things to use occasionaly, I think, but they need to focus on establishing characters we care about.
-- Heh. I've been meaning to do a full post of what I think of the show and what I think they should do, but I just don't think anyone would be interested.
lol Who cares if anyone's interested. Do eet! I read all the lost posts every week. I love the show, warts and all. I'm obsessed. After every episode, I'm all lovey dovey with it, then by Sunday the shine's worn off. By Tuesday, the curiousity's gotten to me and I'm sucked right back in.
As for Abrams ... never been a fan of Alias. *ducks* I know, I know ... Alias is like the be all and end all of television, I just never got into it. *shrug* Whatever. But Lost. Something about it just gets to me.
I don't know about Charlie being a 'leader' but he's supposed to be a saviour of some sort. I do know that. Not sure how he's going to work into this, but he is. And I think his episode was supposed to show us that he can do that. *rolls eyes* Well, his story made me love him, but I don't believe him as a saviour.
And you're right about Jack being wooden. Dood, Pinnichio had more emotion than that man. But he's cute and I'll forgive him for that.
And that's why I have yet to totally hate Sawyer. *shakes fist at his dimples* Damn that man. It's just that his personality reminds me too much of the cocky hick bastards that are around here, y'know?
I'm a little worried about the show turning into Gilligan's Island. Sayid is well on his way to becoming The Professor and Shannon is SO The Movie Star (what the hell was her name anyway?).
And this comment is getting a little long winded ... lol
