Live Journal and the decline of the mailing list.

I know I'm not imagining the shift, but I'm curious as to the extent it has occurred, and the amount which this varies between fandoms. (I've got two or three varieties reading this LJ now, I think...)

I'm wondering, about how your friendlist influences what you read and write, where you post. As selecting amongst the opinions I've provided for you is likely to get a wider array of responses, I present:

And it ate my message! Anyway, and a lot of websites have PHP archives where authors can upload their own stories, but more fandom-specific than ff.net.
