I'm picking the brains of my flist once more.

I received, for Christmas, a gift certificate to McNally Robinson bookstores. (This is awesome, because I am not allowed to go there with my wallet.) There are a few novels I'm interested in, but I'm looking for a few suggestions.

What have you read lately that blew your mind?

If it helps any, I've recently been blown away by:
House of Leaves by Mark Danielowski
Godstalk and Dark of the Moon by PC Hodgell
Plays Well With Others by Allan Gurganus
Going to Bend by Diane Hammond

Also, Brokeback Mountain is still not playing here. *sulk*

No, I haven't had the chance, but my opinion of it is definitely higher than Rainbow since they were the only ones to show Serenity. :P

Didn't get to see it there though. *sigh* I really should go into the city more often. lol

Stars? You kidding me? That's cool!

They weren't the only place to show Serenity. I definitely dragged a friend with me to see it in one of the expensive theatres. Stupid expensive theatres.

(The Roxy is so incredibly neat. It's renovated back to its original historical form, the seats are comfortable, the screen is huge, and the decor is just *cool.*)

Like how big is the screen? Like at the Odeon?

Bigger than the expensive theatre in the Centre, but it's been a while since I've been to one of the others, so I couldn't tell you.

Same price as the Rainbow, but way cooler decor and a bigger screen. Only problem is that it's way less convenient for me, and only shows two movies at a time. My one friend and I have decided it's our new place, though.

(My friends and I go to a LOT of movies. Can you tell?)

When I see Brokeback is in theatres, I'll try to remember to drop you a comment, m'kay?

That would be fantastic! Thanks. I'll have to schedule a weekend in town then. lol

I used to go to two or three movies a week when I was going to uni. Mostly at Rainbow. lol
