May. 23rd, 2006 10:53 pmDear Flist (and the World at Large):
I know there are only about four Who people reading this, and only two? three? old schoolers, but I'm asking this anyway. Maybe someone is wandering by who can help me, or maybe I've missed a repository of knowledge. Either way:
I'm looking for recommendations for old school Doctor Who arcs. I'll swing any Doctor, any companion. Things I've seen already are City of Death, Hand of Fear, Mawdryn Undead, The Happiness Patrol, and The Five Doctors. I just finished Mawdryn Undead -- boys screaming like girls! People with exposed brains, clothed in matching party streamers! Spinny green background of doom! Turlough, didn't your mother ever tell you not to make deals with men with waterfowl attached to their heads? I think Terror of the Autons is on deck.
Recommendations don't necessarily have to be classics -- though I would adore knowing what the classics are -- just arcs that were thoroughly enjoyed.
Much love,
Cherry

Mawdryn Undead was possibly the campest fun ever -- spinny green background of death! Man with a duck on his head! (I know it's a crow? But there's just something intrinsically more amusing to me about a man with a duck attached to the crown of his head.)
For Doctor/Doctor/Doctor/Doctor interaction, there's The Five Doctors (which is kind of a misnomer, but still rather brilliant).
I think perhaps "The Three Doctors, Some Archival Footage of Another, and Someone Who Looks Almost, But Not Quite Like the First Doctor" was a bit unwieldy. *G* I quite enjoyed it. I felt very cool when I caught the reference in Age of Steel.

From what I've seen and heard, Hurndall did a pretty good job as Hartnell-as-the-Doctor. The Five Doctors was actually the first old!Who I ever saw, so I have a special place in my heart for it. :D
