The computer is officially exploded.
So the question now is this: MacBooks -- going from a 1.83 GHz to a 2.0GHz processor and from 60GB to 80GB HD: Worth $350?
Or, huh: It looks like you can customize them, so I could stick with the 1.83 GHz, but jump up to 1GB SDRAM (from 512MB) and 100 GB, for $300.
Anyone? Bueler?

The processor speed is worth it but more importantly check the bus speed, as that's where the real activity happens. If it's a bus AND processor speed bump, definitely go for it. You can jump up the RAM but non-Apple RAM (aka datamem.com) is MUCH cheaper and as ella said it's simple to install.
And yeah you better get the white one! :)

Also, I've installed RAM myself, on my last laptop, but that resulted in the great computer crash of 04, when I had that bad RAM that corrupted my entire hard drive. Which was not fun. It's possible this is just paranoia on my part.
(One of the parental units seems to think that I should consider repairing the laptop and buying a desktop, because it's only a few hundred dollar difference. I'm just rather afraid that something else on it would kerplode before I got the $800 worth out of it.)
OMG, I can't believe my laptop is dead.
Also, I don't quite know why people would be willing to pay MORE just because it's black. White is much cooler anyway.
