Hi! Hello! I'm back!
My new computer is very, very, shiny. It is fast and has a 13-inch screen and I have a new iPod and OMG, my iBook had a 800MHz processor and this one has a 2.0GHz intel duo. It's possible its name is Fred. Or Ignatius. Or Roxy. I can't decide.
So, what were you guys up to the last two weeks? Got married, got a new puppy, wrote a new story? Fill me in.

Computer computer computer computer.
So, okay, it turns out the reason .avis were all choppy was because my processor was too slow. Yay for non-choppy television!

Date: 2006-07-29 06:02 am (UTC)TextEdit may be fine and dandy if you're making a grocery list, but not it falls down if you're doing things that require dictionaries, tables of contents, embedded images and tables with captions, and oh, I don't know, formatting.
Oh, btw? Remind that I have some music for you. It's possible I've found a bit more Beirut.

Date: 2006-07-29 11:22 am (UTC)And, I'm afraid I haven't been able to find a copy Red Dwarf 1 on DVD to copy for you yet. I'll try a couple of other video shops this week, though.

Date: 2006-07-29 06:39 pm (UTC)Woo, more music! Thank you! And especially woo to more Beirut--I only have a couple of his songs, and I've listened those to pieces already. *g*

Date: 2006-07-29 11:26 pm (UTC)As for Beirut, I think I have most of Gulag Orkestar. It's kind of fabulous, isn't it? (PS: Was there anything else you'd like particularly? Type or artists or anything of the like?)

Date: 2006-07-30 06:39 pm (UTC)Agh, that sucks. I know that can happen sometims if you transfer Adobe stuff from an image instead of reinstalling. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to fix it - we just refer back to Adobe. (Which, um, might not be such a great fix for you. *g*) Maybe uninstall and then reinstall from a disc, if that's how you got it?
Beirut is all kinds of fabulous, yes--thank you very much! As for other stuff, wow...hmm. Summertime always puts me in a folky sort of mood, but I tend to like whatever you rec me, so I'll leave it up to you. Yay new music! :)
Anything you want that I might have?

Date: 2006-07-30 07:46 pm (UTC)Hrm, music. I am rebuilding my music library, and now that I have a bigger iPod I can actually rip more of my CDs -- my music collection is massive, you have no idea -- so I'm on a bit of an alt/indie rock kick, and a lot of stuff from way back in the nineties. I'm afraid the folk section of my library is rather reduced at the moment. :( I have some, and I shall provide, but for reference -- where are you on rock/alt rock/indie/dance/classica/hip hop/country?
(As you can tell from the above, my folk collection could use a bit of a fleshing out at the moment. Was there anything you particularly liked or didn't like? I am having a hard time remembering what I put on there last time, so you may get some duplication.)

Date: 2006-07-31 12:05 am (UTC)Should I hook you up with some folk stuff? Wheee, okay. What do you like? Singer/songwriters? Bluegrass? Traditional celtic stuff? "World" music? *digs into the music collection*

Date: 2006-07-31 02:03 am (UTC)If you wanted to hook me up with some folk and world music, that would be absolutely amazing. I absolutely adore Dar Williams and Sufjan Stevenson, have a fondness for Celtic, am on a little bit of a east Indian kick, and tend to be interested in fusion music, strong lyrics, and things with minor tonalities.
... Yeah, basically what I'm saying is that I'm easy.

Date: 2006-07-29 03:54 am (UTC)iPods are win, aren't they?
(Also, yes, I'd keep a close eye on Future Shop. I know a couple of people who've had absolute chop jobs through them.)
